What are you guys up to? Sure wish this work paid like a software engineer. I don't know how I had time for a job, lol.

  1. I had 23 chains dropped off last night for sharpening.
  2. Got a 365 Special that needs carb work.
  3. Need to put a new brake handle on a 200T.
  4. Delivering the four BR600s.
  5. Need to drop and limb about a dozen more trees in the neighbors yard.
  6. Locked up BG86 that needs inspection.

Tackled #5 this afternoon with my Dad. Turned out it was 27 trees! I dropped them. Dad helped me limb and buck them up. I then flush cut all the stumps. Took about 4-5 hours. We then delivered a big load to an elderly church lady that heat entirely with wood.

 Nice work Brad :msp_thumbup:

It was good to spend some time with Dad, both of us doing something we really enjoy.

I can Imagine... It's a commodity that you MUST/NEED to continue to enjoy. I, unfortunately no longer have that option since Sept '04. RIP, Dad. I find myself doing things (more now than when I was younger) that I KNOW he and I would THOROUGHLY enjoy together... In fact, his thoughts of being a General Contactor, etc. would probably be a reality; my skill level is great, all around, but lack speed (experience, really). He was exceptional as a DIY...

and had burned wood, cleared his own lots FOREVER...

So, long story short, take advantage. I was 23 at the time, and this still 'hurts' to type...

On the 'GOOD WORK' I was slightly refering to the speed of your felling/limbing/bucking (did the ported 660BB help? )

BUT MORE-SO around helping those that need the help..

Jay

A mess of an 048. Been beaten to hell and back with some presidential engineering done here and there. Need to find another parts saw than i can prolly make a runner out of em.

The 066BB is my stumping saw. I dropped all but two of them with the MS261. The other two I droped with the MS440/460. I did a lot of the limbing with a Poulan Super 25 CVA. Then the smaller bucking I did with the 346. Have to exercise those saws you know:)

STIHL Contra S that hasn't been touched in a month as I have been traveling too much. Hope to get to it again next week.

How the hell did you drop, limb and buck 27 trees in an afternoon? I'm beat after two lol.:nosebleed:

No, the stock one. It's stronger and faster than my Dad's MS180. I like it. The ported one still has a strage issue breaking up in the cut. I've yet to send it off to Mark for inspection.

These varied from probably 20" to as small as 4". Many of them were smaller. I'll try to get some pics or vids tomorrow. We certainly have a mess.

So awesome isn't it? That a 'little worthless saw' can beat the new saws? LOL. hehehe

That's not cool bout the ported saw... was it running ok PRIOR to teardown?

are those reed-valve saws?

I bought 4 Stihls today and got rid of two of them. One doesn't need anything but I'm gonna have to work on a MS021. It's got a fuel vent line missing and a banged up clutch cover which will need to be replaced. It will also need a thorough cleaning.

All but 3 is done. Had to order another part. Tomorrow morning I'm going out with a friend to test out his new AR14 pistol:)
