I'm feeling that the ( used ) saw's i'm buying are kinda the in between models. What I mean is I burn and cut alot of fire wood a year ( close to 15 cord between my dad and myself ), we get it dropped in log lenght and cut and spilt ourself. What I bought in the last year was a Husky 365 special and a 385xp.
Now I got bolth saws from a very close friend that used them but allways over looked the 365 for a 372, so really its a very clean and under used saw. The 385 was used alot more but still in good shape for it was used for. He only used VP fuel and kept bolth saws in tune and cleaned.

From what I gather from other friends they claim I should have not bought the 365 and just got a 372 and same for the 385 and just found a 390 or a 395.
They are saying that these saws are models that are good just not as good for the saws in the same weaght to power category. They do everything I ask of them and i'm allways impressed with them.

Are they overlooked saws buy there bigger CC cousin.

Both have larger displacement saws with the same chassis. If you're happy with them I wouldn't worry about it. They are doing fine for you so I wouldn't sweat it. You can always swap the cylinders out later when they need a new piston if you ever get to that point.

The 385 has all the grunt "I" would every be looking for, its the 365 that to me could have a little more. Info on this site is unreal as far as what upgrade's a saw can have on it. I just don't feel that saw is ready for it. What I mean is the saw never got used, this saw it sat on the truck and allways got over stepped for a 372. So its real fresh.
I would hate to have any Mods done to a perfectly good working saw only to be some what impressed.

I don't think you would not be impressed by a woods port on a 365. I don't know if you'd really be impressed with just swapping the cylinders out for a 372 cylinder. I would probably have the cylinder you have modded or maybe a muffler mod would get you a little more power for basically free.

I have the jonsered version of the 365 and it is a very good firewood saw. I have cut up to 36" diameter oak with it and noodled the same size oak with it. With the 2 saw combo you have mentioned, you should be able to handle to log loads very easily.

Nothing wrong with a 365, but if you want more, have it ported.

I have a mildly ported 75cc 372xpw top-end on mine and it's a Beast!!! :D

One of the best things about Husky saws is how much interchanges within "families". You have saws from two of the best "families" ever built, and parts will be available for the foreseeable future. Upgrade if you want, no biggie, just don't feel pressured. You're in good (orange) hands.

Yes very happy with bolth, the 385 hands down is very strong with the 24" bar, I got a 32" with it to and the old owner insisteted I run nothing but VP fuel in it. So he gave me a five gallon tin full of it, its a very close friend and we do big favors for each other.

The 365, got alot of use during the tornado that went throgh the next town over from me. I cut for weeks with and it never once let me down. But this is when I got some slack from a few "pro" guys, they said for the cost of the 365 I should have just gone to a 372.
But I never said how much I paid for it ( 350 ) and they didn't know how little use it has on it. The saw has more cosmetic scratches and ding on from just being in the truck for a few years than use.

20" bar on the 365 and the saw can do everything I ask of it, so I guess I'm feeling screw what others say and just run it.

Maybe I should swap stickers on the saw and put some 372 one's on there:msp_tongue:

Well i sir i had a ported 365 and it really woke up I let my FIL run it and it didnt come home he bought it.You can put a 372 top end on the 365 and have a real sleeper saw go a step farther and port it and you wont use the 385 much at all.:msp_thumbup:

Run that 365 untill it needs a new top end then put a Big Bore kit on it. Who the hell cares what a couple "pro's" say. It make good burnable firewood right? I have the even smaller 362xp. Same chassis littler engine. I bought it for 160 in great running shape. Melted the piston into mush and put a big bore kit in it. For less than 300 I got a 70+cc firewood maker, and I could give a rats arse what any one thinks of it. Your 365 is a GREAT saw, don't feel any less about it cause of what a couple dorks say.

Who cares what others think. That is one thing wrong in todays world but that is another discussion. If you like em runnem and the he-- with what others think. Flyem the bird or kickem in the sack for talking crap about your saws. I run into people running there mouths in the bowhunting world, I do as I please and what fits my budget.

Not a damn thing wrong with a 365 special! Damn good saws! I was originally looking for one for my one saw plan, I couldn't find one and bought an MS390 instead, I've always regretted that decision! I'd probably still be running that saw today. Sure, it's a small brother to the 372, but the cost savings is quite large for no more real world difference most of us will notice.
That 385 is just a beast of a saw! No shame in owning that at all! If you can't cut it with that saw you need an 880 or 3120! Anybody that laughs at that saw is a fool!

It is just that the 372xp and 390xp are even better alternatives.....:smile2:

This is what made me start this is exact topic.

For me I think there perfect and yes I'm not one of those guys that needs the what the "Jone's" are running. I see alot of folks even saying just that, well if your buying "X" saw just spend a little more and get "Y" saw.

Me I went from the jonney home owners saw into what I think is a pro saw ( the 365 sp ) and then stepping up the game and getting a 385xp. I will run bolth then when they need ( if they need it ) a rebuild I will up them bolth up in size or port them. I like the idea of the muffler Mod. I just need to do more reading on how I would hate to screw one up for a little added power.

Don't second guess yourself. Like you posted "...screw what others say and just run it (them)."
