Fired up my Christmas present...FINALLY!

Been working and been sick over Christmas, so I never got to fire up my Christmas present till now. Santa took advantage of the Black Friday special and got it for me for $100! Ya can't go wrong, eh? You can't see my new steel-toed boots This is exactly the right size job for this saw. We put a 16" bar on it. Let's see yours!!

Keep it tuned, keep it sharp, and they work pretty well!

My wife runs the tractor and brush hog and front end loader, does lots of difficult stuff around our place, mostly with the animals and in all kinds of weather, but somehow I don't think she'd be interested in running a saw. Of course, when she runs the brush hog you'd best not be in front of her, so maybe a saw isn't a good idea anyway!

I love watching videos of the modded WT's screaming their way through logs... who knew a WT could be so good? I didn't, until I saw one of the vids...

Mine still has the original bar and chain on it. It was made in 2001. I bought it with the carrying case and a qt of b&c oil for $25. The only thing wrong with it was a plugged fuel cap vent.

Everybody is talking about the Wild Thing but I know that the real culprit behind that mass of logs is the Dolmar in Makita blue just laying there on the pile in the first photo.

There's nothing wrong with a WT if it's used for it's intended purpose. It is not a professional saw that I would want to go out and cut all day with. The anti-vibe is virtually non-existent, the air filter is a joke and the construction does not lend itself to being repaired. However, for a weekend saw or loaner, they're great! It's the one saw I can throw in the back of the truck and not worry about someone stealing. If they are maintained they have a good service life and if you tinker with them a little they make decent power.

My first saw was a WT wearing Craftsman colors and it never failed me in the 10 years I had it. I don't care to go into the woods with one now for my cutting needs, but I wouldn't be ashamed to use it, either.

I don't discriminate, here is a pic of my vintage wild thing.

Mine is the shelf queen of my collection but it does get used. If it had anti vibe it would be part of the regular rotation. I don't discriminate either. I have 3 Stihls, 2 Dolmars and a Jonsered as well.

Oh, I do - I make sure all motion has stopped before I get anywhere near! But she sure does get a lot done, so I'm not complaining.

BTW, I'd try a simple muffler mod on that WT, they respond well.

Nah, Go for it! There's some potential there that I'm looking forward to tap. Actually the build quality is better than I expected.
