fo fo one and done! Stock to stock a 441 eats a 372's lunch. Modded, it depends on the artist, but I'd still go for the Stihl in that class

My 441 M-Tronic continues to impress me. I'm sure the 372 is a wonderful saw but for my money it will be a 441 M.

My vote goes to the 576at thats in the trading post. That saw would eat a 441 or 372. Just an opinion.

I will be buying whatever the current model 372 from my local dealer, not leftover models or anything...I don't see an "XT" on Husky's web site...
Answering someone who said I should jump to the 90 cc class...I've considered it but I personally feel that those saws are too much to cut firewood with on a daily basis, and that's all my saws do.

I had a 441 (not the M-tronic) and I never cared for the way it felt. I prefer a 7900 in that size category. I prefer the 7900's feel and it is a lot stronger.
A 372 feels more like a 60cc saw. There is a about a pound of difference (real-world, measured) bw the 441 and 372.
Spike60 is a Husky dealer, but someone who's opinion I respect as being a chainsaw junkie first and a pedler of wood-chip-making machinery second. He says (and I have seen him post this several times) that the XT versions are stronger than the XP's. I know that head to head, a 441 is stronger than a 372XP, but either will pull a 24" bar comfortably. Since you are not averse to porting, why not try a ported 372. I have a ported XP and it will keep up with my 7900's all day and feels better in the hands. If you can find someone with experience porting stratos, I might take a flyer on buying the 365XT and having it done up. I believe they are on the shelves for about $625. So, by the time you have it ported, you are still cheaper than a 441.

Just talked to the dealers...the Husky will be a 372 XP, and the Stihl will be the same 441 M-Tronic.
Prices on these are 839 for the Husky, and 725 for the Stihl.

That is one helluva deal on a 441 M-Tronic! I paid $749 for mine and I was super happy with that price.

I am a bit biased, and always buy Stihl for interchangeability of b&c etc, I know the xp would be a good saw but $90 more of a saw???? the 441CM is an awesome saw, I love mine.

I had a 441, for about 5 days. There amazing on gas but they do need a diet, which is why many vouch the extra $100.00 or so and bump up to the 460 which not only gives you 76CC's but is a sleeker and a "traditional" looking STIHL saw.
I swapped my 441 in for a 460 and couldn't be happier with it...although I've yet to really break it in yet work has been rough lately

I vote Stumpbroke 372.
I "really" like mine and highly suggest folks trying them out at the GTG's etc, or if you're near middle AR sometime, holler.

Well...after yesterday I believe my decision has been made...
I took my 441 M-Tronic with me and met up with one of my friends who happens to be a logger suggesting the 372's...we threw a 28 inch Light model Stihl bar and a new RSC chain on it. One of his guys took it in place of his 372 for the afternoon and cut timber. He was very skeptical because he claimed it didn't balance as well as his 372 did but I was able to get him to cut with it anyway.
I walked through the woods with them, switching back and forth from person to person just listening to comments that were being made...some of what I heard...
"This thing pulls a 28 incher like my 372 pulls a 24"
"Easier on gas than my 372, but a little bit heavier; I think I'd trade the weight for the little bump in power running a longer bar and less refueling"
"Anti vibe is spongier than the 372, but that feeling goes away after a couple tanks are through the saw"
Owner/friend:
"That saw is putting wood on the ground just as fast with a longer bar"
"As long as the electronics hold up, Stihl has a good thing going"
There were some more, but with earplugs in, it was hard for me to hear and I couldn't hear them clearly enough to get them written down.
As of about 5 PM yesterday, they had ordered 2 M-Tronic's to run in their operation...I think the saw spoke for it's self when put in a production environment for an afternoon. I don't have any other need to test these saws other than in a production environment, because that's where they will be used.
I'm ordering another M-Tronic next week.

I've been trying to tell people, but few listen, LOL. Hopefully others will start to catch on.
I think its pretty typical for those that will actually take the "chance" to try one. In my book that saw with a Muffler Modd and if it is possible to get it properly modded is the epitome of efficient and comfortable.

I know it's a wait and see game on your 361 but I have cut with the 372XP and find no real advantage over the 361c. My money would be in the 362 if you put some time on one.I have not but am sure the Stihl quality will be throughout. No felling?? 361. Stick with what you know.
372xp will way outperform a 361
