Why are Stihls regarded as the "best"

In Canada they're priced a little below Husqvarna. Funny thing... Everyone here buys Huskys and I think I know why. Every Stihl I used are too heavy for their performance. That's the main complain I hear, even from me.

Stihl fans always rant about their lifespan, but they aren't better than Husky IMHO. Hell. Dolmar and Echo are probably just as strong If you keep care of em.

( Stihl have Sh!T gas and oil caps as well. Can't believe more people deal with that.)

They make decent products. They have the largest dealer support network. They have aggressive advertising. This doesn't mean they're the best in all categories and every class of saws. It just means they know what they're doing and have done it well long enough to earn trust. Staying at the top is easier than getting to the top.

Stihl is regarded as the best because it is the best. Nuff said. Oh and if you can't figure out how to use the flippy's...well then you might wanna consider another hobby...

its the typical ford-chevy-dodge(i thru that in there cause i own one), stihl makes good stuff,but so do other companies. alot of people are brand loyal and no matter what happens their brand will always be number one.

by the way straight gassing will take them ALL out.

Not "figuring out" how to use flippies has nothing to do with them being a piss poor design. They complicated a design that didn't need fixing, adding cost and frustration in the process. If any other company had those caps the same people who are now singing their praises would be cussing them.

Dealer support. In this area, if you used your saw to make your living, you'd be at a disadvantage to use anything else. Husqvarna and Dolmar dealers are virtualy non existent here. Stihl may or may not make the best OPE, but in this area it's the best OPE to own.

Not saying they suck. They make very good machines, but it seems like almost everyone thinks they're Jesus #2. I just don't get it when they normally weight more.

Those flippy caps are terrible and their power to weight ratio is not as good other companies products except for the 660.

My husky dealer was like that. I was " displeased" ( Good way of putting it to you guys, not to them) LOL

Going with Dolmar now, because they're good, and not a ####. They fixed my Huskys for years and give me deals.

I have favorites from all of the major brands. I love my xpw and my 660. The 346xp is my favorite 50cc saw. I also love the 7900 dolmar even though it just doesnt fit me right. It's still fun to run.

But Stihl does build a really sturdy saw. It's hard to argue that fact. The fit and finish is second to none IMO. All of the top brands build awesome saws though. Anyone that just bashes the Stihl brand is just blind though. I would say that anyone that bashes any of the top brands are blind. The brand loyalty stuff makes no sense to me.
