No sh*t?

That's seems like a good idea. Any 50cc saw against a 60cc saw seems like it would be pretty conclusive. Are you just not paying attention?

If I were closer I'd run my 600p against a 362.

I own 2 stihl saws and I like them both, particularly my 460, but I also own a couple echo saws. My 600p gets used more than my other saws combined, and the fact is, it's a great saw. People here are just saying that the new echo pro saws are worthy of a little respect inasmuch as they are a good product. No one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to buy one, but you do yourself credit in recognizing a good product when you see it.

Why are some people so threatened by echo? I don't get it.

An Echo 600p would get blown away by a Stihl MS 362. 'Nuff said. However, I believe the 600p costs less and is probably a good buy. Your choice.

I couldn't get over the latest echo to pass through the shop. CS-4400. I was like wow this is a big saw (thought might be like Stihls "44" designation lol). This saw was bigger but not as large as most 60/70cc saws so I was impressed. Pop the top and that's a pretty nice air filter in there.

But then I see the cylinder. Bad casting and, wow, that looks small. A 43cc saw??? That big and heavy for a 43cc saw? Let's just say everything I noticed after that was not good.....

I hope the saw you mentioned is built much different and didn't gain any size over this one. Cant imagine a proportional size increase to you saw.

not your fathers echo

Echo dosn't even make a cs4400 any more. The new model saws of today, are the ones to try, not the door stops they made in the 70's, 80's, 90's that weighed 500 lbs.

There is only one way to decide this. Someone bring a 50cc Echo (whatever that might be) to the Iowa GTG this October south of Des Moines. I'll bring my Stihl MS 361 and there might be a few MS 362s there that can even beat me. We'll have at it.

The only 50cc saw that can hold a candle to a Stihl MS 361 is a modified Stihl MS 260 Pro. 'Nuff said.

Agreed... I'll have a few for ya to try... Would you like me to bring the Sachs 120 to play in the ~65cc bunch?
I think Kenneth will have a dandy Efco 962 that might like to play... Oh, and Levi wants to play too...
He's got this little 55cc Deere he's pretty proud of...
And stuff...

:hell_boy:

Don't forget that 084.....

Uh those old echos aren't that bad. I love my 660. Plus I can make that saw chew thru wood fast when I lay into it. I wish I lived near you guys out west where these GTG's happen. Some of them old echos will suprise you if you know their little quirks and how they like their tunes. That being said I will be sitting here anticipating the 361 600p video. Both these saws are going to be bone stock correct? For proper comparisons sake

Good luck finding any ASer's with bone stock saws for comparison's...
Might be tough...:msp_rolleyes:

So what vintage am I looking at???

The top handle echos are mostly what I see around here. And those are nothing but a hassle....

Trimmers on the other hand can be run without an air filter and keep going for years on end.... Saws are just not well built.

Oh yeah small little tidbit i forgot haha. Soon I won't have a stock one left either

Clean out the muffler on that 660 and you will wonder what happened to that old 660. They don't really rev any higher just lots more torque. Mine would kick the tail of my 6401 up one side and down the other. They do get really loud with MM.

Biggest pile of bs I've heard in a while, it wieghs 10#, handles like a dream, I'd run my muff modded one against a MS260, not saying it would outcut it but it would be close. Where does this bad casting come from??? PICS. Another lame TK thread. Steve

I've been contemplating that. Looks like that needs a before and after video...will do sometime soon...I hate being so busy. Gives me no time to work on my own machines

??? Did you see the vid on another thread of a 50cc saw cutting a bit faster than a MS362. I did and had my eyes open . Steve

I deal with lots of saws. The casting on this particular one was not up to the standards that I would call quality. It was oversized for sure. I don't have time to take pictures of every saw that comes through the door. I wasn't impressed with THE BUILD of the saw. I never knocked performance or handling, I didn't run it. It's ok, I understand this chainsaw stuff is quite the serious bizness around here like politics, and like politics everyone should take a personal opinion to be a statement of fact and attack it from all angles.
