Prices don't mean anything until the bidding ends. I bet that 3120 will double or triple.

Now, this is a nice service, but posting saw auctions here makes it kind of hard for people to get a good deal. Steals are found when the enemy bidders are not the saw-savvy types.

What are the holes in the bar on the 3120? Was it used for milling?

one thing i have learned to look for is whether they say chainsaw, chain saw.
this tells a little about the sellers ebay
experience,in selling saws on ebay.
the rest depends on the individual.
personally i look for those that dont put both wds as i may get a super deal there.
or i might get a pile o junk. if hes a con man.

I bid on it when it was about $340 and tried again in the last few seconds but my timing was off. For that kind of money even if the seller was "stretching" the saws description it still would have been worth it!

Wow. I've never seen a 3120 close that low. Old Homelites have gone for more than that. Must be another one of those "were we all sleeping" cases...

It is the time of the year on eBay

I sell regulalrly on ebay nd this is the slow time of the year .. up to first week of September. Time to sell a saw is from halloween to valentines day.

Maybe I'm just the tightest of the tightwads, but I've not seen many deals in any category on ebay for the last couple of years.

What I would consider a "deal" on anything is a price low enough that you could expect to turn it around relatively quickly for a small profit.

I bought a brand new 395XP from Dennis this year, that was a "deal"...with shipping, $225 less than local sticker, $175 less than best local price. That was a deal.

I got a DB saw at an auction sale for $11, offered the rewind from it for $10 and the bar for $5. A buyer agreed to take entire saw for $20. Bought a Jonsered 625 at same sale for $140...runs real good, 155# compression. That's a deal too. I bought a Jonsered 670 (for parts) on Ebay 2 years ago; seller advertized "runs out strong"...

Yeah, right. 70# compression, noisy main bearing and leaking seal. Wasn't worth the $80 + $20 shipping I paid. Not a "deal". Now I blew my good one up this spring, so I have two junkers...but I bet I could sell them for $100 each in a couple of months, on ebay. After all, both run...sort-of.

Unfortunately, I'd consider that dishonest, perhaps even criminal.

If you sold them as parts saws, then you're fine. Lots of people out there looking to fix up one that got hit by a tree or something.

I've found some pretty good deals on eBay. An 011 for $40, an old Pioneer for $10, the big 111S, and a couple others I can't remember. Oakman also recently got a Mac SP125 for a fraction of what I've seen 'em going for. I've also missed a few Buy It Nows that probably would have been real steals.

I have seen a few deals on ebay..that 3120 was certainly one......I caught on too late...

I will be putting an 084 up there soon if anyone is looking for one....let me know before hand...probably go on the end of this week...just gotta clean it up and make it look pretty...make me an offer...

hello all,
i just finished a complete restoration on that mac sp125c i got on ebay for 82 bucks. it had some scoring of the cylinder and piston, and the rings were actually stuck in the grooves. well, i wasn't about to junk it or part it out, so i carefully honed out the cylinder, and worked the piston over with strips of 220 emery cloth, persuaded the rings out of their grooves, and reinstalled 'em. parts for these saws are extremely hard to come by. installed new crank seals, made all new gaskets, and let me tell you, this saw kicks major butt. it has less compression than my other 125, but for some reason it will out cut it every time. same chain, same bar. looking for a good cheap digital camera so i can post some pics. anybody got any recommendations on one?

Stihl 028 saws on eBay

Why are so many for sale on ebay?. Heck I am thinking about selling the 028 I have if I could find a good replacement. Come to think of it I don't know of a great saw that would replace an 028, do you? Actually I am think of going with a large cc saw and get a small bar on it. After reading about you guys revving up these saws I figuire an used 50+cc would be a nice wood pile saw.
