We lost power for about 30 seconds
No problems here . We had some 50 mph gusts , but nothing like they predicted ...... Thank God

Washed out Hwy 12 , what else is new.

Hwy 12 is always underwater!!

I'll be out there next weekend (Nov 10th) and let you know what it really looks like. Everything I've seen says it's more local news hype than actual event at the NC Coast. They didn't want to be left with no story to report... Between Raleigh and I-95, we didn't hardly get any rain.

Although the storm was a Cat I, it was massive in size. We had 30mph gusts 175 miles due west when the storm was just off the coast.

I got 12" of water in the shore house and the shed but other than that okay except for that my ms 260 was under salt water for 4 days and won't start now.

Finally was able to get home this afternoon, for a couple of days - been at work since Sunday AM.

From what the better half tells me, lost power for about a day-and a half (I snuck home late Mon/early Tues to check on the genset). Cable (internet/tv/inlaws tel.) was out for 2-1/2 days.

4 houses South was the evac line. No water in the basement  I'm less than a 1/4 mile North of the Great South Bay, at about 20' above sea level...

Have about a half-dozen or so Locusts, a couple of Norway Maples, and a Cherry down - in the 6-22" DBH area.

I was able to take my BBerry Playbook to work and get a WiFi signal from the local Fire Training Center at times...

Toms Trees may be out on the electric side still - just got power back at work at around 10:30 this morning.

Jasha - thanks for the offer - MUCH appreciated!

it was really windy where i live we lost power for a day but nothing really major along the coast got hit pretty hard

It's good to hear from you guys that are close to the hardest hit areas. I am hoping that the members that we haven't heard from yet are ok.

The shoreline will never be the same. Emptied 1/2 a tractor trailer of saws already.
If you want to help. SEND GASOLINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Living the oil embargo again
and that sucked the first time. State Troopers are at some station. Things might get ugly.:msp_scared:

South East corner of VT made out ok. We got hit hard in Irene, so everyone was very nervous about Sandy. We still have high water, but not a huge amount of flood damage. A few trees went over, but only about the same as a medium winter storm.

I can order some pre mix from Bailey's, seriously. let me know...

NYC and the Jersey shore got spanked big time. I lost power for 2 days, but my area (about 20min from Spike60) really wasn't that bad compared to what it could have been (lost power for 7 days with Hurricane Irene last year). We got plenty of wind but didn't get the soaking rain to loosen up the soil to knock more trees down. All in all I'm counting my lucky charms.

Blessed we didn't get worse

Livin' in the mountains of WV and blessed we didn't get worse. Power getting restored in most places but I'm still without. 18 inches of wet heavy snow dropped thousands of trees on the mountain roads that I travel at work.(Gas compressor tech for large company) Cleared a couple of miles of road today with 2 men helping me. Around 40 to 50 more miles to go. The high places didn't get hit as bad due to high winds keeping snow blown off of the trees, but down from the ridgetops.... man.... it's bad. Sure could use an army of SAW MEN ; all sportin' Jasha built 880's. Glad you're home Brother and gettin' better each day. John Nichols ;)

We split up in teams when clearing roads. The army needs to spread out on different roads, otherwise some have to walk a lot. I'd go ahead, bucking out stuff and flinging enough out of the way so I could drive through, then Tippy, the dump truck with a snowplow attachment would follow and push the trees off the road. If the trees got big, I didn't drive on through, but waited for Tippy to clear what I bucked out.

We get that heavy snow here most winters. It snaps trees quite well.

Take Care....

I live outside of philadelphia near willow grove . we got alot of trees down some in bucks county still without power and our lights flickered but never went out. we got lucky with keeping our power but i have a generator just in case. lots of clean up to do.

I really do appreciate the offer. We have a good supply of MotoFuel. We still can't sell it due to the outrageous cost :msp_biggrin: We need fuel on a larger scale. I just can't believe gas stations don't have back up generators. 1/2 the stations are STILL without power. Fuel is there,
just can't get to it. Those with power run out and can't get shipments. Couples of miles east, well, it's not there anymore. What a nasty ##### Sandy was. Now, a nor'easter is looming for next week.

Hey guys. Here's an update from inside the volcano. We've now been without power going on 5days. This cell phone just flashed battery at me. Crap. It's 38 degrees at midnight now and I can't keep the house warm enough for the kids. No gennie to run my fans for the stove. No fuel left. Cops commandeered the last few stations. Drove one hour west to PA 2 nights ago. Bought 99 gallons in gas cans for neighborhood. All gone now in gennies. People have already tried stealing firewood from me so I can't evac to greener pasteurs. Enough fuel left in 2 trucks to get kids out in case of emergency. I've fixed 2 gennies in the neighborhood, wired a transfer switch for one of them, cut trees off lines, and supplied dry firewood in good faith. Now im being pressured into tasks I don't want and people are eyeing my wood. I can't carry concealed in NJ but I may start. Most of NW NJ is still dark. Rumors of guns pulled at supermarkets. Cell coverage only works at night and I charge off the truck during the day. More updates tomorrow night. Bet the news ain't telling you that!

Man that really sucks. I feel for you guys. Crazy what people will do. I don't understand why they just don't help each other instead of reverting to stealing and threatening, pulling guns and such.
