yes mother matty. lol, Im just a stupid farmer whos spent my whole life working on farms, same as my father and his father. but what do we know about farming and ****

Really tough getting out of bed this morning... it's like my biological clock knew what day it was :msp_unsure:

Nahh, I'm still a bit younger than that :D

Hope you have Good one mate.
I think I've only ever meet one or two other people with the same birth date.

I've done one little job this morning, crashed the Friday ladies yoga class for some R&R and am about to go to one of the local Cafés for lunch and have booked a massage for 3:00.

Tough day here in the bush.

Knowing about farming and knowing about safety are two different things. I'm not having a go at farmers as most of my mates are farmers and my job depends on agriculture.
I have no problem with people who don't want to wear PPE, but I do have issues where people who don't wear it assume they are smarter those who do.
I only started wearing it when I started doing falling on corporate properties and was required to wear it - when you start talking to a few guys who work in forestry and hear of how many very experienced guys have been killed you realise accidents can happen to anybody, smart or dumb.
I'm sure you know a few stupid farmers too so I'm certainly not putting them all in the same basket :D

Yeah tough alright, some of us are still stuck at work :( lol

But I go on holidays tomorrow, look out Victoria! :msp_ohmy:

And further to Mother Matty's comments, I personally know two cockies that are lucky to be here after being sconed by errant branches when dropping trees in the last couple of years.

Both spent a week in hospital with extensive concussion and neck injuries, both were too smart to wear a helmet.

I farmed for a few years too, in some ways working and drafting cattle is even more dangerous than a saw but I was lucky with saws, realised how close I could've been to going ta ta's and I wear my PPE now.

If you don't want to wear the gear, that's fine by me, but I know too many smart blokes that have been caught in tractor PTO's, feed augers, killed by the tractor rolling on them, rolled the Land Cruiser and spent two months in hospital, flipped the quad and spent the same time in bed.....

Any of us that live and work in the bush either know all these people or it's happened to us.
I just look at the safety gear these days as cheap insurance, minimising the risk.

When I was racing cars we had a saying.

If you only have a $10 head wear a $10 helmet.

I tore a medial ligament in my knee four weeks ago, and that's been a big enough PITA.
I rely on my head, legs and hands to earn a crust so I've taken the attitude to look after them now.

Driving or flying mate ?

If driving and you need a 10 minute coffee stop right about Murrurundi PM me and I'll send you my phone #.
I'll be around somewhere, probably at the sheepdog trials, little sis is on the committee and I promised Dear old Dad I'd take him down for a look-see.

Flying this time, getting a bit old for that bumpy highway

But next time I drive down I'll be sure to call in, will try and see Neil too while I'm in the area.

Happy birthday to the Rickster and yourself.
Yes drop in sometime, that would be good.

Hmm, very talented and a bit of a looker, the one big difference is that I'm not a screamer :monkey:

Some one else may do some screaming rick if you talk about her in your sleep.

what's protective gear mate? doesn't exist in the farming sector, where not stupid enough to use saws on ourselves ...chainsaws are for cutting timber not flesh

I lost one of my best friends 3 weeks back to a farming accident (not with a saw), i did his eulogy in front of a packed church with the outside grounds filled with friends and family also, life can be tough sometimes and sometimes things happen we have f#ck all controll over.

I think the older you get you realise your not invincable. The wost thing i have done around farming is cut the end of a finger off,but bloody hell if lost count how many near misses ive had.Its potentally a dangerous profession.I only started wearing chaps last year and was quickly told by a couple of neighbours that i looked like a poof.Fair enough i said...atleast i will be a two legged one
