I won the vintage saws auction!!!

Well fellas I ended up winning the Vintage saws auction we had been talking about on ebay. Paid more than I wanted but I talked with the seller before the auction was over and he said he had about 4 more bows to throw in and 2 pioneers, several Homelite XL12s,a poulan 25 that runs, and a vintage craftsman and probably more. So in total it's atleast 30 saws and about ten bows. Thats like $15 per saw! I contacted him to set up a time and day to get them now just waiting to hear back. I will be posting a thread when I know more. Sorry so long it's like waiting for Christmas morning to open my presents! :hmm3grin2orange:

Well, congrats man! You are gonna be a busy boy!

Looks like your starting bid is about double what it should be:msp_confused:

For some reason now is not a good time to sell a saw on ebay. I've had several good saws on there lately with a reasonable Buy It Now and nobody bought. I have a feeling that if I started it out with a low bid the starting bid might be all I'd get. It might be the economy or people being out of work, etc. Two months ago it wouldn't have taken a day to sell a saw.

could be the changing seasons too. I'm trying to clear the bench for the warm weather projects. Camper, boat,,,

To me a C-51G should be gear drive, which that one isn't. Run of the mill C-51. Says direct drive right on the clutch cover.

I may be wrong about the G, Aaron might correct me if I am :)

As much as I'd like to correct you this time Chris.........I can't.:D

It may have been sold as a C-51G (I'd REALLY like to see a pic of the MN/SN tag), but it has a plain-jane direct drive clutch cover and DD clutch drum on it now. If it IS a 'G' model, then it would have gone great with the gear drive clutch cover I sold (had to.......being responsible sucks) last fall. It came to me on a C-5 (not a C-5G).

Even if that saw has a 'G' MN/SN tag, I wouldn't pay much more for the saw (without a gear drive clutch cover) then the going rate for a regular C-51. His price is way too high (and his claims of it being to run a 72" bar are laughable, even if it DID have the gear drive cover).

Yep, pretty soft on Ebay right now. You're probably better off selling locally or using the buy it nows like your doing. Last week I picked up a Husky 288 for $26 ($61 shipped!) I never expected to win it(my max bid was $88) never mind getting it for just $26!?
The only saws I'm putting up on ebay right now are the ones that typically do well there(ms200T,272, 038 mag). I'll probably quit selling there in a few weeks until fall unless there is some major event that pushes saw sales.
