So I recently got a new 261... And today I put her and the 650 to work... I made $100 in 2 hours bucking up some logs into rounds. I gave the 261 a good workout.. I was actually amazed how peppy it is. Seems like it revs up a lot quicker than my 460 or 650. So needless to say with $100 burning a hole in my pocket. I happened to check craigslist. Typed is stihl nothing popped up. Typed in chainsaw and bam stihl chainsaw with 20" bar for $300... So I offered $250 and now its mine!

Can any of you figure out what model it is? Needless to say I have some pretty awesome saws for a 21 year old...

Thats right a 361!

You did good, REAL good. Congrats on another great saw.

On another note, all of those saws should have fantastic throttle response. Tweak you L needle until they do.

Thanks! I have too many saws now... I have to get rid of those 3 huskys now... (288,395 being ebayed, and the 298!)

But your probably right.. I need to buy a tach and get a lesson in tuning saws...

Anyone wanna set up a NJ GTG?

My 361 was my favorite Stihl saw i owned and its the only rear handle Stihl i kept when i drank the orange kool aid (i also still have my 200T/201T).

You are going backwards everyone starts out with Stihl because its the name they know when getting their first saw, but then they realize there are better saws out there so the change over to Husky's.

Nice looking saws
When i was 21 all i thought about was booze and women :D chainsaws where just a chore back then

Lol. Well for starters, I have a girlfriend, I enjoy going out, but I work hard, and enjoy having/playing with power equipment...

MOTTO: WORK HARD, PLAY HARDER!

I think you sir are the one going backwards! lol. I think both companies make great saws but I favor Stihls, and the dealer support is 10 times better where I live.

I personally have come to one conclusion, and I'll quote my buddy Cale....

"Stihl's are for workin, Husky's are for racing".

BTW, Your gonna love your 361. I'd almost bet it'll be your "go to" saw before long. Do yourself a favor and gut the junk out of the muffler.

She cleans up nicely! I put on a new bar and chain. Don't mind the small scabbard on the 261 I just stuck it on there so it doesn't tear up the handle on the 361. I am now running out of room on my bench.

That's how my shed is getting:msp_biggrin:

Well that is my dedicated chainsaw bench. The husky's don't stay in the house, they stay in the barn

I don't have a shed but I do have a 130'x30' pole barn and I sure hope it doesn't wind up full of chainsaws! Lol. I don't think my family would be very happy.

You did good. I suppose many of us here are green with envy. At your age that saw line up looks great from here. At your age you should be interested in girls (rather than boys of course), otherwise leave the booze alone --after 31 years of being sober now I can say if you leave it alone, you won't regret it. Otherwise I'm sending you some new saw rep, anyone that can buy a nice MS361 like that at age 21 needs some! :cool2:

I'm working a lead on a clean 361 right now. I have never owned one, but the ones I have run are nice. I compare them to 10mm 044's in power delivery (with a few less beans, of course.) If you have not run a tidy 10mm 044, that is a winner also!

Haha Thanks, like I said before I have a girlfriend, and while I like to go out, I don't care much for drinking. I never really did, sure the occasional buzz is nice but I would rather spend my money on other things. I'd rather work than drink. And thanks for the possible rep lol. :biggrinbounce2:

Rep sent.

Over indulgence in any area of your life is unhealthy..........I have been guilty of overdoing nearly everything I've enjoyed. Don't be like me. :msp_sneaky:
