I am intrigued, good work. I am REALLY curious to see a bone stock saw to a woods ported saw.

Coming soon! I have a new big bore jug to put on next then my brothers big bore 460 that I ported will be next. Tomorrow night I'll get some more runs in. Probably HD vs hd2 and then I'll do a jug swap and test the nwp big bore.
 
Looking forward to seeing what happens between the HD filters.

At some point, a nice test would be 036 vs 360 vs 361 vs 362.

On my very first run my 460 had a meteor top end and a HD filter. I pulled the HD and saw the rpms and torque increase instantly. I'm pretty sure there will be a nice gain with hd2.
 
I'd love to have a saw build off. Something like $25 to enter your saw and winner takes all. You guys name the saw and the entry amount.

Did your HD filter have the pre filter on? I took mine off, thinking it might flow better, I also cut out a big chunk of the inside blue filter?

I'm pretty sure that's because the saw went leaner, meaning the tune was responsible for the power increase. Now that you have the O2 sensor, you can eliminate the tune from the mix.
 
It will be nice to have some data besides "feel" and a stopwatch. This could be an excellent means to determine the actual benefit of certain modifications and also to do realistic comparisons of saws. Good job.

My plan is to port my 460 and dyno test every change. First widen the ports. Test, then cut the squish and base to get 180-200 psi comp. Then start changing the port timing and testing all the steps. I recently got another basket case 460 that I'm planning on making a complete saw out of it. I'd like to keep the oem 460 stock so I can use it as my baseline saw. Temp humidity and pressure might change readings to much so the baseline saw will always be ready for a quick baseline calibration. I also have a brand new meteor kit, hyway kit, nwp kit and a nwp BB kit for testing.

Same numbers and compression. It'd be kind of tricky to get the compression exact on both but I believe it's a good idea.

I know my preference on those two choices but some testing never hurts

That would be a good test. I think the mod guys would love to hear they can get the same power out of a pop up. Pistons and bases are easy to cut it's them darn squish bands that are tricky to cut. Compression could be tricky to get the same but can be done. First you need two jugs that have the same port timing #'s.
I love all the testing ideas fellas but my head is starting to spin:dizzy:
 
The dyno you've fabricated is brilliant :clap:
It is a great tool for builders . Real world hp. and torque measurements , not just "seat-of- the-pants" feel , and stopwatch cut times . (too many variables) :msp_scared:
Imagine a builder being able to compare each saw that comes out of their shop , to previous builds , stock saws , etc .
Think about how usefull it would be @ Build-off's and GTG's :cool2:
