I do not understand why new members first posts seem to be #####ing about a major brand of saw being a piece of crap, how they heard a guy at the dealer say something about "XYZ" and starting unfounded rumors or shady saw selling attempts.

Things have sure changed around here lately, just saying

Happens with some existing members too. Remember the one kvetching about "hunkajunka"? Gone.

We have an ex-gov chasing bux by constantly hissing & spitting at anyone different. There's your model.

Just sayin ... :msp_rolleyes:

As usual, we hear only one side of the story - and have no way of knowing what the full truth is. :givebeer:

This story has some questions. Did You bring it back to the selling dealer and have them look at it,. Do you have any pictures to show us the damage. Your dealer has a much better chance to help get this under warranty than you do. If he calls and says there is no other damage other than the crack. Stihl may help out. He needs to look at it to try to figure out what happpened.

Most people here already have an opinion one way or the other regarding chainsaw brands. I don't think your story is going to influence them to change their opinion.

Regardless of the brand and model of product, I will need more information to be convinced you've been wronged. Please post good quality close up pictures.
Do you think it was cracked when it left the Stihl factory? If not, what caused it crack. With the exception of design flaws, housings don't just crack. Ether it is overstressed or defective with an inclusion or porosity. If it was a design flaw, you wouldn't be alone. Your problems would be yesterday's news.

Hi, this is my first post. My saw is junk because I broke it and my dealer won't fix it. Yes I posted this over 8 hrs ago. No I will not post details or pictures of what happened. Shmuck

I have a 2.5 year old STIHL - used 15 times - never dropped it. I am facing a $275.00 repair on an MS-211 that I bought for $250. I called STIHL and asked how an engine housing can crack when the plastic body surrounding the entire chainsaw was completely fine / not broken. I asked if they would stand by their product. They said "something cracked the engine housing." I said, that I'm telling as many people as I can about my experience and Kelly at STIHL tech services hung up on me. That is all FACT. I'm not a happy customer of STIHL. I will never buy their products again and I'm telling as many people as I can about this.
WOW thanks for the warning. I'll never buy another junk Stihl chainsaw again and I'm junking all the one that have served me well over the last 40 years:msp_rolleyes:

I'm pretty sure Kelly hung up for good reason.
When everybody you have spoken to is wrong, quite often they aren't.
