Guys, make sure you're running a good anti-virus, and run regular full scans. Noscript also helps so that you can allow only the correct scripts for the site.

As for their network security, I agree that they need to hire a pro to secure things. Or better yet, move to a managed server that is always kept patched and secure. Still, I think that vbulletin was the hacker's entry point, and they have left backdoors.

It's a shame some crap a$$ basement dwelling hack has caused this much grief..............lot of talk of staying and of leaving also. Every post here brought us all together at one time or another. Think of all of the info posted, all the pic, vids. Heck even the off color snipping back and forth between members........the feuds, OH the feuds!!!!!Is this site not worth it?? I wouldn't let a few miss directs turn me away that easily. Why is this site so popular? Cause you can get answers and get them fast here. There's always some entertaining threads on the board. sure there are other sites, post a question, wait two three DAYS for a response. Here there are threads where people race to answer the questions.
Heck who am I to say............I've been gone a long time. Don't mean I didn't drop by from time to time as a guest. When times are tough, is when it's time to close ranks and stick it out. Just sayin

WOW I can post!!! for now. Honestly people can defend the site all they want, but I've had issues with my computer since this started, + a few other things I'm not going to talk about here, this goes deeper than most think IMHO. If this doesn't get resolved soon I'm done myself, it's simply not worth the trouble. My .02 take it for what it is.

I don't understand why people need to hack something anyway. They can't just let people enjoy something fun like arborsite. It shows these people need better their lives if all they wish to do is make other miserable to an extent.

Also, you guys might want to consider using more "hardened" passwords for your online banking than you do for your forum passwords. Honestly, my password on here is a joke, but any password connected to money or one of my own servers is 10+ characters with mixed case, numbers and special characters. The hackers can have my weak forum password, but it won't do them any good on anything else I do.

They probably purged the entire file system, did a clean VB install, then restored the database. (This was probably a good move.) That means all skins went away for now. They will probably have to rebuild the green skin, just to be safe.

I think we all understand that this is getting old.
But saying negative things about the site is just wrong. Darin started this site so that we can enjoy the freedom of logging in and talking about a hobby/ passion that we all share. Such negativity is not only irritating people but will start hurting feelings as well. Even when the problem isn't even their fault. It would be like if you had invited a group of guys to a GTG, 60 people showed up with saws, food, their knowledge, and ready to have a good time. only you forgot to order the meat that you were supposed to grill, everyone says screw it and left. how would you feel? I can guarantee that this is weighing on the forum owners and moderators mind heavily and negativity is NOT what we need right now. If you feel the need to leave, there's the door. Don't make a point to tell everyone.
