How old is this saw?
I got it from my friends grandfather.

Been using this beast of a saw for years then this happened.

Was clearing the yard today when I hit a moss covered boulder. That boulder was so green it looked like a log. It just tapped it quickly but was enough to rip off one of the teeth.

Anyone experience working with a saw with a bad link?
And how dangerous is it? I want to keep working or should I wait 3 weeks to get an order from Australia to Finland.. They dont have those chains locally.

I also have a Husky 340 but it needs a new carb.

That's 1970s saw. I still have my father's Super XL and it still runs/cuts. I don't use it much as it don't have any AV.

The saw will still cut missing one cutter tooth, but you will spend a LOT of time filing the rest to get them sharp, there is still a lot of life left in the cutters if you sharpen them.

Chains should be plentiful, 3/8 pitch 0.050 gauge. Get correct number of drive links for the bar, check if drive sprocket is worn. I'd avoid cheap chains.

that chain is safe till it breaks! i wouldn't use it as it has broken into link- a trip to hospital or at very least a gash not worth the price of a new chain imo
should be able to get replacement locally
replacement stihl chain # is 33RS 59E or 33RM 59E

Going to depend on 16 20 or 24" bar

This should be moved to the Homelite thread so he can get the correct gauge and drive link count based on the rim and bar length.

This loop could be repaired with a preset. Get one and some new files with the preset and a new loop.

Check the chain gauge 1.3, 1.5 or 1.6mm. and number of drivers.

I can ship but it's never cheap to Europe.
Plenty of 050 3/8" Oregon here. Little bit left of the 058. Out of 063 round.

Pics of the rim and tail will help you get it all dressed up nice. It might need a new rim or spur.

And dress the bar by draw filing if needed.
