image.jpg Saw this at my local Canadian Tire store ( National big box store ). Total price with 13% sales tax a whopping $ 207.87. Delivery not included. You have to haul it home yourself. Also thought it was funny that they are selling it as a "face cord ".

13% sales tax?? So you're out roughly 208 bucks for what seems to be a half cord. So $416 for two pallets worth to make a full cord. Right? Right, I'll jump right on that lol. Doesn't even look like oak either. What are those splits, red maple? I wonder if the people plunking down the money on these things realize they could've gotten all that wood stacked on those pallets for a fraction of the cost if they put in a weekend or two of work and cut up/hauled off their own trees.

Generally, the deposit on those IBC is $65 USD. Make sure and calculate that.

I sell a lot of wood to city folks most of them don't even have room for a half rank rick face cord. I have people come buy and buy what they can put in there trunk of a escort they will give me $20.00. So they buy bundles from me put them in a little rack on the porch or padio.

Didja know that "$" means "US dollar"? All other dollars need specification. Like, Canadian, Australian, whatever. Doh.

Back when they took a "U" and an "S" and overlapped them. The others are on their own here.

Quote from Measurement Canada: " The only legal measurement and representation of firewood is "a cord" and fractional parts of a cord or cubic meter. Prohibited terms of selling firewood are,"face cord", "rack", "pile", "truckload" or similar language. Such terms are not to be used when advertising, offering for sale, or selling firewood". Apparently these laws are not enforced in Canada any more than they are here in the US.

I'm sure if there were complaints the government would take action. The reality is that he vast majority of buyers and sellers are comfortable with the slang terms and every one is happy.

Either way, that's more then a face cord so I doubt there would be any complaints about the amount of wood. More likely a lot of sore backsides when they realize how much they over paid for the amount they got.

I have 60 of those 2' overfilled. If I could get that price, I'd sell them all and call the propane guy!

CTYank, you're kidding right? Damn and all these years I've been spending US $'s.
I guess you mean $65 Canadian eh?

Nice try, I guess. But still wishful thinking. The symbol is shorthand for "United States". Thats's us, down south here. Unless you want to join us. :ices_rofl: I could see how the Brits didn't want you to pilfer the "pound", but try to be original.

If you folk have to plagiarize, try to remember that you print "$ Can", NOT the 'Murican ones. :p
