346xp saws are just STUPID! So ya get yer wood all cut up real fast like, then what do ya have to do??????????????????????????
That's because the 346 boot is actually larger than the 357 boot. The only real benefits come from the larger air horn when swapping the intake tract. Obviously the HDA 191/199 has a larger venturi so there's some benefit from that. But I look at mileage too. If I can get similar power with the HDA 159 and have a longer run time I'll leave it.I felt the difference when I put a 357 carb on my old ported 45cc OE. But no gains with a 357 intake.
Yes, old-cat had brought that to my attention a while back. That's because the 346 boot is actually larger than the 357 boot. I agree 100%!That's because the 346 boot is actually larger than the 357 boot. The only real benefits come from the larger air horn when swapping the intake tract. The ID of the 357 intake boot is significantly larger. Which part are you referring to as the air horn? That's because the 346 boot is actually larger than the 357 boot.
The inside diameter is larger on the 346 boot. The air knuckle the filter base. The ID of the 357 intake boot is significantly larger. Which part are you referring to as the air horn?
I just checked and it's out for delivery now.I have one coming in the mail now. I'll try to remember to get pics and measurements.
357 intake boot ID is larger at the carb end, but smaller at the cylinder end.The ID of the 357 intake boot is significantly larger. Which part are you referring to as the air horn?
I'll check that out and document it.357 intake boot ID is larger at the carb end, but smaller at the cylinder end.
I never would have believed it until old-cat pointed it out.
The size is noticeable once you look.I'll check that out and document it.
You don't need to spend any extra to get a 346 running well. My personal 346 has a mm, unlimited coil, set squish and I really don't feel the need to grind on it, even though I know what I can get out of them.
My personal 346 wasn't that behind a ported 346..
If you use the 346 boot and enlarge the carb end then put in a STIHL 036 ring, you will have more cfm capacity.I've heard that too, but the 357 boot fits perfectly. I've used quite a few of them.
The challenge still remains for me to get the carb end of the boot enlarged NEATLY. The one I did seemed to work good but it was more sloppy than I like. You have build so many great runners that you know whitch one of them that work best out for you Brad.
Personaly I want to try out the old-cat modd, I think he is spot on this one
Double cut bur works pretty well. The challenge still remains for me to get the carb end of the boot enlarged NEATLY. The one I did seemed to work good but it was more sloppy than I like.
