Found a local dealer that had one in Stock, and it doesn't feel hardly heavier than a 180. I even took some comparison pics. This dealer asked me $465, the dealer that has to order me one is $440 (plus I get it tax free through a friend's account)

After handling it, I was sold for sure. Man what a great feeling saw. How much to get it snellerized? :D

I can not wait to get it and feed it some oak! She will only drink the best. Synthetic bar lube, Synthetic mix oil, and leaded race gas :D

I'm excited like a kid at Christmas. My wife said "it's a work tool, just another chainsaw, why are you so happy?". She doesn't get it lol

I fondled a 441 while I was there. I have nothing but respect for you guys that run that thing all day!

I also bought some Stihl sun/safety glasses and they gave me a Stihl hat too.

You picked the right one, even though you don`t fully know it yet.

Why "leaded race gas"??

LOL it's not a requirement really. I just get a gallon of 110 Sunoco and mix it with ethanol free Amaco 89. If I do 50/50 I get 99.5 octane (% of mix X octane) + (% of mix X octane) = total mixed octane. (0.50 x 110) + (0.50 x 89) = 55 + 44.5. But the lead, just like in the 60's is good for valve seats in engines with valves, and can extend the life of rings. Using the synthetic mix oil doubles the factory warranty.

Anyway, the Stihl tech at VA Beach (the one who gave me the free carrying case) said saws run best on higher octane, but not to exceed 105. Reason being, even though the flash point is lower, race gas is purer and burns hotter and can exceed the cooling capability of air cooled engines.

I've done my own tests, and anything over 97-99 didn't make a bit of difference. But running two identical MS180's, one on 93 pump gas and one on my mix. The one with the race gas mix starts easier (no choke needed), idles smoother, and has crisper throttle response, as well seems stronger and doesn't bog in places compared to the other 180 (could have been the E10 gas tho) .

JMO......no need for synth. bar/chain lube. Save your money

And, if you can, buy E-Free gas. No need for race gas. Too expensive!

I was kidding about the bar lube. But the only ethanol free gas I can get is 89 which is $3.10 per gallon or the 110 Sunoco. So I just started mixing it. I have one more store to try. It's a mom and pop shop near me that mostly does big rig towing/diesel garage. I just got told they have 93 octane that's ethanol free, but I need to go check for myself. I really don't enjoy spending small fortunes on gas, but I also try to take care of my equipment ya know?

I'm going to try to run 93-95 E free gas. You guys with the big saws, like the MS880 and similar, what gas do you run in them?

I remember a bunch of folks fell for a April Fool's post about Stihl selling a new Synthetic Bar Lube, long time ago.
I talked to the Stihl rep, and the dist. got a bunch of calls about it.

I was joking about the bar lube! I didn't even know if they made it or not. But I do use the Synthetic mix oil.

Why would they even bother selling it? Other than there are some folks that would buy it?

I guess I got the reason already......

Not sure I understand your point.

We didn't get E-Free gas in my area until May of 2016. And, I know lots of people that don't mind extra extra for it if they could buy it locally. So, we now have an E-Free gas station here in town, and another (same outlet) about 30 miles from where I live. It's on one of my favorite routes to go m/c riding.
