I could never figure where the bad Champion plug debate came from as they are all we ran here in Canada til the late 70`s when other brands started showing up, actually they were referred to as offshore plugs . I have saws here from the 1950`s that still have their original J6`s in them and they run fine, all the outboard motors also had Champs in them, our 1952 Evinrude still runs them.

I think I've seen some Champion plugs leak when subjected to pressure. Even with the crush washer totally flattened.

are ACs any good?
My marine owner/dealer is closing in on 89 years old, he has always told me as long as a sparkplug is sparking its a good plug. If you told him to his face Champion plugs were no good he would tell you to go stuff yourself. He was a racer back in his prime and still has a wall full of trophies and huge Champion banners on his walls. I have no experience with AC plugs in air cooled or two stroke engines. Fourstroke water cooled engines are at another level where we ran many makes of plugs back when we changed them at 15,000 mile intervals.
