You will not get your "money back out of it" buying a bunch of new OEM parts, or paying $250 for an incomplete project. Even if your time is worth zero...

Good luck with the project. That might be worth starting a thread over. Take pictures.

I see some 346’s going for $600 lately. I figure it’s worth to keep and run it. Maybe port the little guy. If we buy a used saw that runs or a non runner it would need a refresh anyway.
I've seen them go for $600 also, but they're either NOS or mint. Not going to get $600 out of one that's been rebuilt

I wouldn’t sell it anyway. But it has a lot of compression plus I’ll put in new seals, crank bearings, gaskets, piston ring or piston if it needs it. She will out last my lifetime.

Should have just bough one of the two that sold on here recently by @gary courtney , all the work done and brand new cylinders for 400, and a great guy to boot(not this kinda boot :buttkick::lol:).

I'm in need of one of those too if you know of one. Ratty old 44.3 cylinder
I've got a little less ratty, but still far from new one. It's gonna be backup in case the chitty Golf piston I'm throwing in it spits a pin or hangs a ring. I went pretty wide on that exhaust. What are you working on?

I have a 2149 that I put together with a two-piece head and aftermarket cylinder. I'm ready to take it back to a usable saw. Definitely not in a hurry if you come across something. And for the record, my 7900 has a golf piston in it. It's been fine for 3 years

I understand how Animal these little husky saws can be. My 70’s husky 240SG professional was a little animal. There was no XP’s back then everything was called professional in the pro line up. I’m sorry I sold it. For small trees and limbing it was perfect. I hope the 346xp can live up to the old 240SG. After using this saw for decades the maintenance costs were one starter rope and chains/bars.

Free tip if you don’t mind,, Knife edge the center ribs between the transfer ports in the cylinder.
Feather back the transfer port inside farther in the port on the ends. Think flow, even flow.
Take your exhaust port and lower the bottom before the port opening to the exhaust port opening, give it a gully shape. We’re the split second the piston hits the exhaust opening this exhaust ramp will increase the flow sooner.

All the Swedish husky dirtbikes have the gully on the exhaust port. I make them larger.
