I think the picture may be making it look worse than it is. It is maybe a half a thread below flush and it is actually pretty smooth.
Is there a champion equivalent to.that number? My local hardware doesnt carry NGK

6 of one half a dozen of the other.
In this instance, not really. Peening over is peening over any way you want to interpret it.

I'm not trying to start a pissing contest here. Just tried to keep the information accurate and the interpretation of semantics to a minimum so Kevin didn't destroy a cylinder and what may otherwise have been a perfectly salvageable insert job by using '6 of one' instead of half dozen of another. There is a distinct difference in the case of your particular explanation that could have been easily misunderstood resulting in less than desirable results.

I has a CJ6 on hand here so gave that a try as well as the original tapered seat plug and they both leak [emoji26] I'm pretty bummed right now, I thought it looked great and wasnt even a little concerned about leaking. What are my options here? It is really hard to get the CJ6 in there and get decent torque on in because the 3/4 hex doesnt leave much room for a socket.

Yes, wacking the snot out of it is very accurate semantics.
I cant help it ... :buttkick:

Well I got it to seal, just took a little more torque than I'm used to, I really dont want to be relying on a sealer in this application if I can avoid it.

So went to look at a pile of Macs yesterday. Most were real rough.

I did manage to grab this real nice 10-10s from the pile. Got it home cleaned it up, thought what the heck, put some fuel to it and it fires right off and seems to run great. I sold a real clean one of these a while back, think I'll hang onto this one.View attachment 823793View attachment 823794View attachment 823795

Also grabbed the 6-10 and another 10-10s....but they both need a lot of parts and work.View attachment 823796View attachment 823797
Nice job on the 6-10 !, I don't see them in my area. The 10-10s is a great saw though , cuts above is class.

Yeah, pretty excited about that one. Missing right side recoil and clutch cover, lower handle brace, oil tank cover, muffler, and obviously need a bar and chain. I have lower brace and a spare tank cover. Not sure what mufflers are compatible...think I have a pm700 muffler. Also, noticed there's just a block off plate in oil tank. 6-10 didn't have an auto oiler?

Does it peen over like bell shaped or like flaring a brake line?
With the tool provided those inserts. Once its drilled/ tapped, you thread it in place and use this tool to hit with a hammer and it will put a lip onto the outward end. Its like a flare but not as deep. Enough to drive the knurls into the aluminum and hold it. But, the one i did i had to seal it cause it leaked gases out. I used jb weld. So it did not work as well as designed. It did work in the end though. I may not have hit that tool hard enough to put a large enough flare. But it worked.

Poge, i apologize for my sarcasm . Your lol, touche made me laugh. I wasnt trying to out pee you either.

I imagine myself just shattering the top off a cylinder! WHAM and GARBAGE ! But I guess it can take it.

Hey McBoys - I'm still out here just a bit overwhelmed these days...I'll show you some photos of the McCulloch literature collection if I ever get it sorted out. I will have quite a few IPL's and a number of workshop manuals (originals and copies) available at some point. I am surprised at the number of duplicates I managed to collect and stash in different places.

Hey fellas
Another Mac followed me home today...
This time it's a brick! My first one of these, Eager Beaver 3.7 (PM610 I think). Recoil isn't engaging the flywheel, so needs some tinkering tomorrow.

Hopefully it has spark, I have an Eager Beaver trimmer that's in great shape but sitting in the corner of my shop because the module is dead, and i haven't any luck finding a decent replacement. Those years the ignitions seem to be junk .
