I am working with my vendor to come up with an "aftermarket" full wrap handle bar for the SP105/125 saws. The first one turns out to be a perfect fit. These will be made from steel tubing rather than aluminum since they always have the material on hand. This is the narrow version for the non-brake saws.

If you are interested, let me know so I can work on a quantity for discount.

I also have 3D printed collars (or clamps) available in yellow or black if anyone has a need.

About two weeks ago I bought a Montgomery Wards 3.7 at a junk store for $15 to my surprise it started right up. It's a McCulloch 610 clone ( I have a 610). Only has a 16" bar.
I cross cut some big wood with it and super impressed. I really like it. Nothing even slows it down, a real torque monster.

I’ve been clearing some more brush around the property and I have got several more trees to cut down. Two of them are rather large so it’s time to get out one of the long bars.

Updates coming later as to whether or not these old pieces of junk will actually fire up and run. Ha

I’m also practicing square filing by hand so I’m gonna see how well that goes.

Yep you have what is called a beak on there. But like you said you have to start somewhere. Keep at it.

Thanks for the feedback. That’s what I was thinking so it’s good to know I need to come up a little bit to not have that beak.

Before the rain moved in I did have all 33 inches of bar buried in a cedar and it cut really good but that is a very soft wood. Now it will be several days before I can get back down there and get the rest of the cedar up to the sawmill and then maybe I’ll try to get a video

Well tragedy stuck.
I try never to cut in wind above 10mph but as some of you know our governor is allowing us to open parks back up on the 1st/ Friday. So I asked most of my rangers if there was something that they wanted to get done before we got slammed with people, one said 9 trees in his campground dropped while no one was in it. Well being pressed for time, I had already had to use wedging on one that sat back in the wind and a sweet gum only about 14" dbh took out a pro mac 10-10.20200429_165908.jpg20200429_170213.jpg20200429_170218.jpg
Handle/tank,brake,clutch cover and the bar is tweaked. I don't think the motor including the oil tank were hurt.
Good thing I had 3 Macs with me , did alot of rope work afterwards.

Joey,

I can't make out the corners from your pictures, but I understand that ideally you match up the top and bottom corner -hard for me to do. I rigged up an old Granberg and below is about the best I have been able to do. My angle needs to be a tad steeper and the file a tad higher. It also needs to be sharper. I wore out the only square file I have getting one that close. I won't show you the others. Hope to take it up again in the coming off season.

Sad to see, but at least that custom MH sawdust guard held up fine. Glad it was the saw and not you.

Thats a bummer. Better the saw than you Got hurt.
She was a fine looking lady to top it off.

Yeah saw parts are replaceable, but she was running great I has the non high adjustable sdc on this one and it really has a strong motor, I'll definitely rebuild it, maybe some restoration in the process.

So this was on my doorstep this evening. Purchased from a member here with some disclosed issues but it does run and has ridiculous compression.
Some photos showing the issues. What are my options going to be for these spark plug threads? The tapped threads in the cylinder are ok but I dont think they are tapped deep enough because the plug sits out of the hole and if you go deeper there will be nothing to stop it from falling all the way through.
I tried a couple test cuts and it was erratic and didn't really respond well to tuning so I pulled the carb thinking a rebuild would be in order. Is something missing in the intake? One side of the boot seems to be falling in, the picture is bad sorry.
I have never had or worked on one of the antivibe saws so this is all new to me. Also, the manual oiler seems to.not worknbut the automatic does. What should I be looking for there?

Have the spark plug hole welded (tig) save yourself from heartache later on.

You’re exactly right, I was too low and I have a new chain to go by. I still haven’t wore out the file yet but I did cut with it today. It cut great! But everything cuts great in cedar. I’ll only square file from now on and I should be decent in a year or two.

I need to clean out some old junk, what parts do you need?

Oh yeah, I made two cuts on the large 30 inch cedar tree and then got rained out so I never got any pictures or video. I got it down to the ground and made one cut and that was all.

One of the pieces we already took the sawmill and made four 4 x 4 posts
