I need to fix an 028. Can I take a good 028 super top end and put it on? I wasn’t sure if the stroke was the same across the two saws?
Thank you in advance.
Thank you in advance.
The last of the 028 Supers were given the Wood Boss label, check to see what you have first- you might be starting with the 46mmIt’s a wood boss avq. I just picked it from from a friend to work on. I thought I would surprise her and put a 46mm on it I have from a parts 028 super. I’ll check it out and see what’s going on with the saw first.
Her words, “The saw lost its balls”. Local dealer said it needs a piston.

... and no chain brake, just a strong handle guard. They were the classics and sold very well.I believe the 42mm versions had metal tanks.
Thank you.I'd put in the rings and replace the seals too (cheap while you are in there). Make sure the rest of the rubber/AV mounts is in good shape and do a carb kit. The gasket and seal for the oil pump are inexpensive too.
Have a look at the IPL. They changed pumps at some point, newer seal is #12, plug is # 13. They also changed oil pump drive and clutch along the way. I only have a super with the newer parts on it.Thank you.
I will.
I already ordered the oil pump gasket because it’s leaking. But I see no seas. It has the all plastic oil drive gear. Are there supposed to be seals on it?
