Might be Bradford Pear.

Did it come from a woods, or from a residential area?

Bradford is an invasive so it could have been cut almost anywhere but not likely in a deep woods.

The branch unions look like Bradford.

Bradford is good firewood.

I think this is correct, based on how the split section of wood is, Bradford splits uneven, almost cracks because of the crooked grain. And yes it is good fuelwood!
