Since we all like car pics ... I visited my friend John yesterday and gawked at his 69 Chevelle, 69 Camaro and 67 Vette.

The Camaro and Vette have 454s, but the Vette has the original 427 Tri Power on top.

The Chevelle has the bored and stroked one like SS396.

Looks to be a square grind with a shallower gullet and an anti kickback drive link is all. Whats the concept? What are the Advantages? Are they going to offer a grinder to the public that has three different angle dressers on it?
Looks like a sales gimmick from here! 🤣🤣 Just say'n.

No thanks. I'll stick with my Silvey tune! 👍😉
Supposed to be a hexagonal chisel cutter and a proprietary file made by Stihl , user friendly 10 percent faster according to Stihl but I think 5 dollars more per chain I think

I've been waiting for it to hit the states to try out. If your kids willin to ship I'd take a 25" loop and a file 3/8" .050".
If my son can order it I imagine that any other Stihl dealer in the U.S. could order it... It might make more sense to buy local as the shipping these days can kill ya!

Just called my guy. He said he has had them for a couple of months. He said a couple of guys I know have been using them and like them. I asked about files and he said those guys have just been using the regular round file. About $4 more per chain than the regular ones.
I'd think the round file would sorta defeat the purpose!

😳10%!!!
🤔Interesting. Im trying to run through
my head how a cutter with three angels and a sharpened gullet can remove more wood than a cutter with two angles and no gullet at all.
What about precision grinding, or is it only possible to hand file with a file that only the saw chain manufacturer offers exclusively at a very high premium cost?
I don't know guys? Sounds like STIHL benefits more then the consumer on this one!
I'm willing to bet that chain doesn't stay in production and on the shelves very long at all before consumers realize what's up! I'll give it five, maybe six years tops before it's discontinued.

Got a new water tank for up at camp

Hopefully me and Uncle Mustang find some time this summer to get it hooked up to catch the rain water

I think Stihl trying to compete with the square chain market, as an easier way to achieve with costumers , rather than trying to square file .

It's worth a try, supposedly easier to sharpen then square in the woods. Figured I've spent more on dumber things may as well try one out. Guess I'll have to run across town and see if the good dealer can get it. The close dealer would want me to buy an entire pack of files or say they can't get it.

Stihl does sell a grinding wheel for that chain.

Yeah, but how do you dress it? With a hand held stone dresser? You WILL NOT be able to keep your angles on the stone consistent with a dresser you hold in your hand! Your dressers must me mounted stationary and firm to the grinder itself.
Not trying to steer anyone away from it. I'm actually curious about the chain!
I'm just not going to fork out the money to test one out until I hear the reviews from those of you that did!🤣🤣

Buy one and let us know. 😃

That cutter is a square style grind, but with
an additional angle though. It's by no means going to be easy to tune by hand. Not that I can see anyway.
Like I said. I'm curious to see how it works out.
