My oldest (son) turned 18 today. It is kind of a relief we got him to 18 (he definitely had his "teenage years") and I feel a bit older knowing I have an adult child.
Wish I was 18 , well maybe not this world isn’t getting better for the younger.

Better get em with the first volley. The bear will be burping and licking his lips before u could reload.
really! that bear book... bears that out, too! right there if not in the words, definitely between the lines!!!

plenty up there who never made it back home to tell their bear attack story!! :omg:

A real mans cake wood have a real chainsaw on top. Not some namby-pamby one made out of icing.

Got another red oak down.
This one had a good bit of backlean and side to where I wanted her to fall. The wind was kicking up too which add to the "excitement":sucks:. The wind managed to grab it a bit and spin it, but it worked out within "spec", so I'm good with it.
Hard to see all the backlean, I also had my line pulled tight enough to support it, which made it stand up about 4'. If you look to the right you can see how much smaller the larger red oak stump I've been burning is, I was able to push it over onto the fire by hand; not that it was light, there's still no way I could lift it by hand .

I had to take a break about half way thru, everyone was doing school.

It's all cleaned up now except the main stem and just up from the large crotch my bull rope was in. Heading out shortly to dice that up. I should be able to get an 8' log out of the but, maybe 10', we'll see.
Next I'll cut the two smaller trees in the gulley just left of the next larger red oak(just left of the one I'm cutting in the video).. I'll probably do a little grading and start filling on the gulley after that, since the ground is soft right now. I also want to smooth everything out back there as the temps are dropping and the ground will be a pain to walk on and will hold more water after the snow we are supposed to be getting today/tomorrow melts.

The stumps. I counted at least 50 rings, DBH(just for KK ;)) they are either 20-22" or 20-24, depends which side of the tree you're standing on LOL.

Yeah, that's why I thought this one was appropriate for you :innocent:.
I'll be back, gotta run a real saw for a bit:chainsaw:, although it's red not yellow, and doesn't have blood on the blade:crazy2:.

By the way, Happy St Patricks Day!

I am 25 percent Irish by lineage (paternal grandpa is 100 percent) and 26% according to my ancestry dot com test. Will definitely partake at some point today.
I dunno my exact percentage, but likely the majority lineage is Irish. I've got an Irish last name, and just enough reddish facial hair to make people afraid they're going to catch the gingervitis.
