First time I’ve seen one of these in my wood pile . Not my picture but exactly the critter I saw white weasel . Saw it Today and yesterday may be more than one was very interested in what I was doing View attachment 1137590
An Ermine. Smallest member of the weasel family. Back in the day. The white trim with black dots on the Robes of people in Roalty. Were trimmed with Ermine pelts. The black dots seen on the trim. Are the tips of all the tails on each pelt. It took hundreds of Ermine pelts to trim a Robe. They aren't Always white either. They turn brown in the spring and then back to white in the Fall. They are all over Alaska. They are very territorial and love making their dens in rock piles or wood piles. I doubt there are two living in your wood pile. They are also a very curious animal They look cute, but are very ferocious for there size and can kill rabbits ten times their weight! One of my favorite animals.👍 If you have chickens? You won't have any after that Ermine finds your chicken coop! BEWARE OF THE ERMINE! 🤣

Thanks for the edjumakation, I didn't know that stuff. 👍
Don't think we have them down here in misery.

No chickens . I’m sure they eat mice and rats .

Bears are the only things that zigzag around here and they get the grease gun treatment. No need for Huskies or Jonnies. I have real saws, thank you.
Agreed! On everything except Bears zigzagging and getting greased by a grease gun.🤔 Well, at least I haven't seen or heard of a bear getting grease gunned down yet, or zig or zag. Actually I may have seen one zag, or maybe it was just zigging.🤔
It definitely wasn't both!🤨

No offense taken as I said I haven't really looked into the news stories I see. Just remember images of kids carrying assault type weapons on the city streets. I don't know what Missouri laws are and how the kids got the weapons. Parental permission? I don't know, but more importantly, why? It's like the old West over there.

And yes, I do know most places have methods to screen people wanting to buy firearms. As in Illinois. Must apply for a FOID card (Firearms Owners ID). It's NOT a firearms registration of any type, just to identify the card holder that they've been through a back ground check.
We used to carry assault weapons on the streets back where I grew up, baseball bats!
Once you understand why the cities that had all the BLM riots in them had them, then you'll understand the problems had in St. Louis, and why that couple was prosecuted fro protecting their property. A little tip, the DA's are all funded by George Soros, and because of that it is like the Wild West over there, that happens when people don't get prosecuted for the crimes they commit.
The FOID system is a registry, just under a different name, because that's what communist do, they change the language to confuse you. We have the same issue here in Michigan, it's called a pistol purchase permit, they make you have a permit just to purchase a pistol from an individual( a rifle that had already been purchased from a dealer can be sold by that individual without the governments supervision, just as it should be), it's a round about to keep track of the guns being sold, a registration!
If gun registries worked, why do they have all the problems in Chicago.
In regards to my comment to you.
Speech is a right, the "right to bear arms" is a right!

My brother sold his 460 after running my ported 462 and got a ported 462. As we get older, the weight difference becomes more important.

Performance wise, it can be a tough call because 046/460 timing #s and performance are all over the place! Some of them run much stronger than others.

But the 462 is much more user friendly. It is smoother, it is faster, it is computer controlled (no tuning) and has instant throttle response. It also has that real nice clean air filter technology, which saves a lot of time with not cleaning the filter so often. The 460 has a few more ccs, and if you got a good one it may have a bit more grunt. With 20" and 24" bars my 462s are my go-to saws, with 28" bars I will usually go with a hybrid or my ported 460.

Note: Almost everything I cut is hardwood.
The 461 has a wider power band/sweet spot than a 460, and gets better fuel economy.
The 462 has a more ergonomic handlebar angle, spring AV, and clean air tech (all things husky had).
The 460/461 is a much more durable and well built saw than the 462, but I'd choose the 462 over them any day of the week unless I was milling with them, and then I wouldn't choose any of them lol.
462 is the only saw in Stihl's entire line-up that I'd like to try, but I can't possibly imagine enough gain over a 372.
You can swing by and run mine, bring ear protection, the muffler cover makes it loud as heck :surprised3:.
I don't think it's a huge jump in power, but it does have more power than a 372oe or XT, it runs with a 461 no problem and those beat out a 372 all day long. It is a good bit lighter than a 372oe(the XT is heavier than them), but if you put a lightweight bar on the husky you'd be right there with it. I know, then you have to do that to the stihl and it would be lighter; but it still doesn't handle like the husky, and therefor when using it the husky would still feel lighter(at least to a guy who's used to huskys ergonomics).
Too bad the 572 is such a fat pig when comparing weight, but it is a beast of a saw if you're cutting for a living. @Logger nate , did I miss anything :hi:.

Good morning guys.

Lazy day here. My two teenage boys arrived home at some point in the night as I see cars are here. I was already sound asleep. I’m usually an early riser but today I slept until a few minutes after 8 AM. I never set an alarm unless I have to be somewhere-I just let my body tell me when it’s time to get up. Apparently I needed rest last night.

I did get most of my Christmas shopping done as well as all of my holiday grocery shopping yesterday. Need to grab a couple gifts for my daughter as well as some gift cards for the boys and then I’m done. Not sure if I’ll go in today or go in tomorrow morning.

Our strange warm weather continues, but I’m not complaining. There’s about 10 inches of ice on the lake so if I have time it would be great to be out there.

Still have two cords of firewood to deliver to one of our Lawn customers and then that’s it for outdoor projects for the year. I’m looking forward to having a little bit of time to be able to work in my workshop. It’s really become a mess in there over the past two years.

I AM NOT in favor of being at the mercy of an armed criminal just because you think they usually don't want to hurt me!

If you are worried about collateral damage, just test that they can shoot well before giving them a permit, and make sure they load hollow points!

The longer we let this insanity continue (of not letting law abiding citizens defend themselves), the worse the problem will get. Knowing that your victim will be unarmed just emboldens criminals. Furthermore, some of the violence is simply the result of gang initiation. You may end up hurt or killed for no reason at all!
Lock and load

KK is exactly right, that is an Ermine, they turn white in the winter except for the tip of their tail. I remember being in my tree stand up at the cabin one year, and there was no snow, so this white Ermine stood out like a sore thumb going over the brown leaves. Looked like it was searching for food, I just watched.

It disappeared from sight to the left, then came scurrying back with something in it's mouth, disappeared to the right and came back and forth twice more with something in its mouth on the return. I figure it found a nest of mice or chipmunks and was carrying them (one at a time) back to its nest. Perhaps it had young?

Was exciting to watch. Have not seen them down here, but I did watch a mink from my tree stand once (down here) going in and out of a stream. That was also cool.

My comments on the 462 may be a bit dated. Mine are both early 462s. I see on another site that the early 462s were faster in small wood, but the newer 462s pull a long bar better. For whatever it is worth!

Again, the big advantage the 462 has over the 460/461 is less weight and comfort with less maintenance. I've also seen the 460/461 debate many times (and have run dozens both stock and ported) at GTGs and have concluded that the porting is more important than the model. I've got a Doc Al ported 460 (with a 046-D jug) that pulls as hard as any 461 I've run.
