What do you guys think of the “repair”?

Drilled into the case a tapped the hole, used a piece of scrap sheet metal to attach the case to the anti-vibe spring. Not the most ideal angle, but wanted the most meat while drilling
That should work. Not the prettiest but if it works it works. That saw runs nice. Nice scrounge!

@MechanicMatt I've been meaning to ask your opinion. I'm looking at getting a '22 or '23 Silverado 2500 with the 6.6 gas. What has your experience been at the dealership with those engines? I've seen bad reviews with oil consumption mostly. I don't trust reviews too much because people only whine when there's a problem. Thank you!

Well, the early ones had crank issues, if you made it past 15,000 miles yours wasn’t one with the issue. My good buddy complained his was eating oil, he tows a trailer that delivers three golf carts at a time, not exactly a giant load. The start of my oil consumption test is I have to change the oil and put it to the top of the hash marks on the dipstick. He called me two weeks later asking what I did to fix his truck. I replied nothing. I think oil consumption issue is depending on the oil you’re using, we use the dexos oil, explicitly at the dealership. I don’t know what he was changing his oil, but we run our wheel consumption issue went away. His truck is the only truck that I ever heard of a 6.6 gasser eating oil. A lot of other Chevy engines have oil consumption issues. But his was the only 2500 gasser that I’d heard of.

A 359 Husky in need of lots of love showed up in my trucks bed today.

One of the guys that saw me resurrecting the 262 brought it in. Said good luck

I have so many to play with at the moment, I don’t know when I’ll get to this one 🤦‍♂️
Man Matt, you got some real problems having all those choices lol.
Looks pretty good to me, but where's that thing off to 😆.
I've done some pretty odd looking repairs through the years, but they were very functional, that's what matters. It also helps if they are legal ;).

You may be up for Husky scrounger of the month honors. Don't want to get your hope up too high tho as there is lots of month to go yet.:chainsaw: :drinkingcoffee:

Morning fellas. Bit of a different view here this morning compared to last night. 20240210_091530.jpg20240209_173022.jpg
Temps are up to the high 30's so the lake is giving off a good fog. I was planning to do a bit of fishing today but it looks like a recipe for wet feet! Oh well, there's a dead tree that needs to be taken care of so I will get to run the saw for a bit.

On the Chevy board Im on there several guys have said that their late model gassers use oil . Two of them GM replaced the heads but the problem continued. GMs response was it’s normal . But others report no consumption at all . So it seams hit or miss

Thanks for the input. I'm looking for a truck with higher miles for the year. I keep wavering between finding a southern 03-07 Duramax and the new trucks. Problem is I despise working on my own vehicles so much so that I schedule them in at work. That's why I'm leaning towards a newer truck. We'll see.

Should narrow that down to 05+ got the hp bump and still reliable.
