Kind of got the "bug" today. Dealer had a new old saw in the back I didn't know about. After all the hooplah about the 440, decided to help him move some old stock that was just sitt'n around.

Started her up and ran her lightly for about a minute. Really notice the vibes over the 441.

Here's some pics.

Aww man. I forgot all about the DP cover!

As silky smooth as the 441 is, should I expect this thing to rattle my teeth?

Thanks for the kind words.

I think your going to find out they stay together a lot better then the MS441s do... I like the MS440s better....I think in the long run you will too.

Truth be told, I am having some trouble with the 441. The front annular buffer is completely blown. Rubbed up the baffle near the handle, pretty badly. Getting fixed under warranty, but that is why I had the saw bug today. Was hoping to be felling Hemlocks, but no felling saw until now.

Hmmm.....runs to check his.......mine looks fine.

I honestly haven't had any trouble whatsoever with mine. I'd say it's cut in the neighborhood of 100 cord in the last year.

Have never run a 441, 361 is smoother than 440 or any of my saws, only notice it though after running 361.......And then after first cut or so I
don't notice the difference at all. Only saw I have that I notice the vibs
is 041FB.

LOL, I just did the same. Mine seems ok. Was it the spring part or the foam rubber yellow damper closer to the chain side? Some of the 441 bashers out there may want to pick up one and try it first. No, Im not gettin hateful, just playfully defending my 7hundred and some dollar tool...

Yes, it is the yellow damper on the bottom front of the saw. It's on the opposite side of the spring.

Mine had a huge split in it that was letting the handle hit the back of the main baffle, just under the filter cover.

I still like the saw, and even considered buying another. If I don't like the vibes on the 440 (now that I'm spoiled) I would consider another 441.

When did you buy the 441?
If after Jan 2007 it has a 1 year warranty, Pro use, think it's still 90 days

Another thing came to mind. I did notice the handle rubbing the baffle just after I got the saw. I figured I was horsing it too much in the cut by not keeping the chain sharp enough. After running the 32" bar for a while, a few days ago, I noticed the handle was really hitting the baffle hard. Sure enough, the yellow buffer was blown.

I have only logged about 30,000 board feet of Hemlock with the saw, not inlcuding four triaxle loads of pulp. Probably only cut around 5 or 6 cord with it also. Good chance I got an oddball of the bunch.

Thanks for the tip PA, I'll keep my eye on that. Hopefully its not a weak point in the design. I wish I had bought a 70 cc saw long time ago, be it a 440, 460, 441. Even for just a firewood cutter and odd job person, its still worth it. The power and saved time alone is worth it.
