You can't escape yourself
How do you keep them from nagging? LOL!

I picked up a P70 tonight for $50 and now need a little help. This is my first yellow Swede saw. First off, I am not exactly sure it is a P70, are there any unique features of this saw that set it apart from other models? There is a faded P70 where a sticker used to be on the cover, but not sure it is original, can't find a serial number either. I am going to need a new rear handle, any ideas where to look for that? Thanks.

My P70, a Christmas gift from my wife around 1978, became a brand new 2171 during the most recent JRed "trade-up sale" simply because no dealer could get parts and on-line searches were unproductive.

Good luck, I always liked my P70. but I can truthfully say its time had come and it died a peaceful death.

The lack of parts, or interest in fixing, is pretty apparent on this saw. There is a big glob of fiberglass repair on the rear and and pieces are broken/loose on the inside. Guy said it needed a carb kit, but all I had to do was adjust the carb to get it to run better, not perfect, but better.

Any ideas where to get an IPL?

My last Pioneer/Partner parts book I sold, Cheapstihlparts bought it, so
you might shoot him an e-mail.

I had a Pioneer 3200 I had to let die [by selling on ebay],just due to lack of parts availability. That old Pioneer I believe was made in 69 or 70,so maybe youll have better luck than me.Keep checkin ebay,I did finally find a few sellers that had 3200 parts, just of course, not the parts I needed.I will keep my eyes open for anything I can find for ya,Ill keep ya posted.Hate to see old saws die

A Pioneer/Partner sign. Not quite sure of it's age?

Most of my Partner parts have come from rental places and tool stores. Lots of them are and were Partner dealers and have old stock. Can take a few trips to talk to the right person but usually when the right person(owner) is involved they are happy to see the parts get sold. As far as ordering new parts they do very well on the Partner saws that are rebadged Huskys and hit and miss on anything else.

I have the handles.......I can bring some when I come over the 18th week......where in ME are you?

Better post some pics so I can see if you need both the top and bottom parts or whatever......take off the top cover and snap away

As far as I know, no Partner saw ever were rebadged Huskys, but some smaller Huskys were "developed" from Partner designs, like the 40, 45, 49, 50, 51 and 55 - and many parts probably interchange.

A few Jonsereds were rebadged Partners though (1020 and 2077 comes to mind), and others were developments, like the Huskys above.

I know that my Partner 5000plus shares parts with J-red's. 490, 590 something like that?

PB, Post some pix of the saw so we can see what you've got. I have some stuff (all for the 5000, 500 series though). Pest will surely fix you up.

Here are some pics of the P70.
