025 air filter upgrade?

Sorry for the noobish question.

I have an 025, curious about any performance upgrades. I have the adjustable carb. About to do the muffler mod. I heard someone mention an air filter upgrade for these saws.

I have the 'upgraded' filter already... I was expecting something like the old style.. Am i missing something? It looks like the old filter has more surface area, especially since i think the back side is filter also
