028 super with 120lbs compression

Is that ok compression levels? or is this saw due for a piston/jug rebuild? It's cheap....any advice would help I see lots of other saws displaying 150lbs....i suppose that'd be a good indicator that this saw could stand a rebuild.

yep it is pretty tired.

Good saw in its day though.. But at 120 it is seeing the end of the road.imo

Pull the muffler. If the piston is in good shape it may just need a ring job. That will only cost about $50-60 with OEM rings and gasket set.

Anyway, it depends if you can get it cheap and can/want to to a re-ring.

If the cylinder and piston is in good shape, rering it. You may be able to find rings on ebay for it, should be under 15 bucks.

I put rings in my 036. OEM off eBay for $20. Probably about an hour if you have never done it. Need to buy ring compressors from Bailey's or somewhere and a long T27 torx driver.

I agree, if the cylinder and the rest of the saw is in good shape and you can get it resonable, why not re-ring it? My bother-in-law loves his 028 super!
