039 oil pump

ok im a mecanic but no saw I have an 039 that was cutting fine and just dryed up full of oil I cleaned the tank with gas and air blew through the outlet nozzle into the tank with air and it was wide open refilled with oil and still not a hint of oil whats next pump? is there a pickup hose and if the tank is full of oil would still get oil right? please help im stihl ignorant. tanks Don ho sthil 036pro 039 sxl925 homie echo top handle and a few more buried somewhere:monkey:

Pop the clutch and take a peek. May be as simple as stripped worm gear.

i saw the wire tip on the pump driver wear and broke off where it engages the clutch drum once

The pickup filter in the oil tank may just be clogged with chips and gunk. Happens a lot. Fish the line out and clean the filter. If that doesn't do it, then the pump gear is probably stripped, as has already been said. LMK if you decide to get rid of that SXL925 sometime...
