041 BarOil in Engine

Sorry to have to ask,, but the search engine is bunk!!
I have bar oil in the engine of one of my 041's.
Whats the common cause of this predicament??

Did the same repair and it was pretty simple.

I have another broken up (tree fell on it) 041 will scoff the pump off it.
Though it may have been a bigger problem.

I had one do the same thing.. i think the o-ring for in the pump was 50 cents.. then i had to wait for all the bar oil to drain out of the crank case :bang:

Yup mine is draining to.
The donor saw has bar oli in it too.
Off to the Stihl stealer!!:hmm3grin2orange:

Be prepared for lots of smoke when you start it back up.. mine took darn near a full tank before it cleared up

If you can still get the rebuild kit from Stihl you will be money ahead to replace everything in the oiler, not much too it. I think the complete kit was less than 20$. Pulling the oiler was the most problematic espically after being in the same spot for over thirty years. A screw out of your recoil housing is the right size to thread into the oiler, or any of the 5x panheads, 5x18-20-25 will work. I think I ran at least two tanks through it before it completely cleared up.
