154/162/254/257/262 info thread

I searched and did not find any threads discussing this "family" of saws and what parts are interchangeable between models. I've seen some good youtube videos on the the 2-series versions, which has a lot of useful info.

I figured maybe some of the more knowledgable members here would care to share their wisdom on these saws in this thread. Being I'm a 254 fanboy, I want to learn all I can.

So, whatcha know? From my understanding, the 2-series siblings all share the same tank, and you can also use a tank from a 55 if needed.

The 254 has its own crankshaft. The 257,261.262 crank has a longer rod.

Expanding to include the 154 crankshaft, which is interchangeable with the 254.

The 162 is not a member of this family. Apart from spark plug and some screws, no parts in common with the others.
50/55 tank will fit 154/254/257
50/55 tank and front handle will fit 154/254 (257 is taller due to longer conrod).

Good to know, I only assumed it was in the same family. I'll update the title.
