I picked up my ms251 used, just like all my saws. This 251 is low hour, maybe just a few tanks run thru. I noticed a rattle which I haven't heard on my other Stihls. I placed a thin nylon washer just behind the metal washer and so far the noise has not returned. View attachment 1027084View attachment 1027085

Thanks for the idea. I think I'll try this on an 024. Even the seasoned shop tek couldn't explain the rattle/grinding noise being produced with 3/8" chain and new rim sprocket kit.

Kind of old thread, but did anyone else notice the noodles? Looking at the chunks laying around gives a hint as to how he's cutting, and might explain some of the dissatisfaction.

My 362 was a little sluggish until it got broken in. If it's green wood mine does just fine. If it's dry it slows down a good bit in hard wood. Mine wears the 25 inch bar most all the time.
