Just got a 30 "stihl bar for an 880 but it was origanally .404 and has been switched over to 3/8 the question i have is how many drive links of 3/8 does it take, thank you in advanced

According to my book a 30" 3/8 for a 880 uses 100DL and a 30" .404 uses 91DL. Being that the tip was changed the DL count may possibly be diff because of height of the bars. I ran into that with a Poulan that I had a 18".325 switched to 3/8 and instead of the reg 66DL count for a 3/8 18" I ended up with 64DL.

Dumb newb question -
Wouldn't the chain adjuster make-up a couple or 3 links if the chain was a bit too long? I know you also will need some adjustment for when it stretches, but I'm not too familiar with longer bars (my longest is 25") as far as chain stretch goes.
