I am in the market for a stihl 310 or 361. I went to the dealer yesterday to compare the two and see if it's worth the extra $200. Well, they showed me a used 310 they had in the back that they would sell for $300. The paint was barely scratched on the bar. This was a barely used saw. He said a customer had some repairs done to it and owed them a bunch of money so they are selling it to pay for his debt. Well, I didn't ask but I am suspicious why a nearly brand new saw would need repairs? I suspect it may have been straight gassed. I'm gonna ask him to do a compression check in front of me. My question is, about what should the compression be? Can anybody think of anything else I should watch out for?

Thanks..
Joe

I would say around 150 PSI on a fresh rebuild. Ask him if you can pull the muffler and have a look at the piston.
