346xp Idle issue

Just picked up a 346xp used and it's a gem. After the first day of use something happened to the idle where the chain won't quit moving. I adjusted the T screw and all that did was make it die, chain kept running. Is this needing a more fine tune on the carb? Not really proficient with carb adjustments so any help would be appreciated.

Probably a broken clutch spring. So the clutch keeps dragging even at low rpm.

Ah. Might that explain why the chainbrake isn't working either?

So probably looking at a new clutch drum & sprocket. Also shout out to my fellow Sconnie for the win! lol

Yep. I've had to replace a couple clutch springs over the years. Clutch drum & all else was fine.

Your gem might have an air leak too. Too early to say just yet though.

Go back to the drawing board with your carb. If you can't get it to tune(youtube can teach you) then it's time to pull the muffler and check that piston. After that an air leak test.

Might even just need some 10bar motivation to remove some rubish. When it's not broken.

Could also be the clutch bearing is seized onto the output shaft, if so it’s a quick fix.

Yup definitely a broken clutch spring. Might as well check that bearing too while I'm at it.
