I have to find out if I can use needed tools at work. At least we have proper drilling machine here. And propably thread set too. But then I need to find suitable screws somewhere...

I looked at spare parts list at

http://www.husqvarna.com/se/support/

and found this parts lists for older Husqvarna 350 saw

http://cdn.husqvarna.com/ddoc/HUSI/HUSI2004_AAaa/HUSI2004_AAaa_350_2004-03.pdf

I don't know which screws and threads it is about - possibly
those with parts number 503 21 78-27?

Anyway - all Husky engine screws are M-thread I suppose -
and also either M5 x 0,8 (most of them) as well as possibly
a few M6 x 1 - both these are unusually easy to rethread for
"just anyone" because drills required are 5 mm and 6 mm
(instead of fancy fraction of millimeter diameter drills ) to
make them M6 x 1 and M7 x 1, respectively, by means of
the appropriate threading taps (and cooling oil) of course

http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-gänga

Though you will struggle to find the kind of M7 x 1 bolt you
need - if rethreading M6 to M7 - very unusual thread to my
(admittely very limited) knowledge.

Long ordinary bolts of tiny diameter can be hard to find - for
example if you are looking for 90 mm M5 x 0,8 bolts for your
346xp muffer that is not easily found (except as expensive or-
der from Husky at 3,5 EUR a piece or so), but it is easy to ma-
ke them yourself from 1 meter threaded rods - like this

Many engine bolts (for example cylinder base etc) are hex bolts
that cannot be substituted for ordinary bolts because there is not
space enough for socket wrenches etc - and long hex bolts you
cannot make yourself that easy (to my knowledge) - and long
hex bolts of tiny diameter are even harder to find ... .

But as long as the needed hex-bolt is M5 or M6 and not overly
long you find it e.g., at Biltema

http://www.biltema.fi/sv-fi/Varuhus/
http://www.biltema.fi/sv-fi/Bygg/Fa...t/Rostfritt-stal-A2/Insexskruv-rostfri-19019/

better buy A2 or A4 stainless steel ones (stronger), if avaialble
- a too long one can be shopped to right length of course ... .

If threads are bad your screws are most likely also bad and sho-
uld be replaced anyway ... or at least inspected very carefully be-
fore reused ... .

If you take a look at page 49 of the Husqvarna 346xp workshop
manual I attached earlier in this long thread you can read about
another method of thread repair Hva recommends - by means of
thread inserts - for that you need 6,1 mm and 7,1 mm drills (to
create new repaired M5 and M6 threads, respectively), which most
people don't have :) - guess one could use 6 mm and 7 mm instead
and file even so slightly afterwards - anyway - for this you have to
"overdrill" the damaged hole even more than when rethreading, so
to me it seems wiser to start with a rethreading attempt, as that lea-
ves a second chance to use the method Husqvarna suggests if fai-
lute at first attempt ... . But I suppose the mechanics (I suppose they
are) we have communicated with here earlier have done this oftenly
and might have additional advice based on experience ... .

There are also other ways of repairing threads, by the way - like this

Sorry for all the words :) ... . And good luck to you again ... .

I just did pressure test to 346. 0.8 bar dropped to 0.6 in 3 minutes. Due to service manual it shouldn't drop more than 0.8 to 0.6 in 30 sec so I think my result is ok. Testing vacuum too. I think that last longer to drop. Too bad husqvarna doesnt't say anything about vacuum.

Edit: Vacuum tested: in 10 minutes 0,5 bar to ~0.3.

Yeah - you are right - I have an older longer 125 page
workshop manual also for multiple Husky saws - seems
to be same thing there - says something only about tank
vent test

"Use gauge 502 50 37-01 to measure vacuum. Readings
should be as follows: the vacuum should increase from 30
to 15 within 30 seconds. If readings are outside this range
the vyon plugs must be replaced."

Edit: One can of course (as you know already :) )Google a
little and find some info, e.g.,

I think this 346 is going to be one nice saw! Needs some break in, but seems so fine allready. I'm going to summer cottage at eastern time and taking it with me. I hope I can cut some serious wood.

vaccum is the same story as the pressure must hold for long periods of time , your results is good for now but dont leave it , check again after some times. also check if the pump is ok

How air tight these things can and should be?
If manufacturer says its ok if pressure change in 30 secs is less than 0.2 bar.

Ordered some sealant for 350:

Hope this is right stuff.

Edit: Took 350 apart today. Visible leak between cylinder adpter and case. Threads seem quite ok, I think they are still usable. When Threebond arrives its rebuild time again.
