I have a buddy that has a 351 chain saw and he is due for a sprocket change. It has the spur type and I told him it would be better to change over to a rim type. I know on a thread a while ago it was said that on my 353 a different oil pump drive gear would have to be installed along with the new rim/drum setup. The 351 appears to be made identical so I assume he would have to get the same parts? Appreciate any input brent

bdenny,

I'd also recommend switching to a floating rim-sprocket.
What he has to switch are the clutch-drum and oil-pump pinion.
Here are the order numbers:
503 98 00-71 - Set of clutch-drum, needle-bearing and sprocket (.325x7).
503 89 21-02 - The oil-pump pinion.

Good luck,

Ola
