Sounds stupid, but I bought a 372xpg a couple weeks ago, and now that low top on my 365 looks silly.
That's what sells HD filter kits at local Husky dealer. Tech, laughs and says it's their money, but why? Have owned many of each, never seen a difference, still cuts logs into firewood size lengths. Makes the saw look bigger. Cool factor increased when selling saw.

The tech laughing about it is probably stuck working on a Saturday cause he lost his check at the casino or spent it on a bag of weed, but who am I to judge?

For many, many, many years there was no need of automotive style pleated paper or gauze filters on a chainsaw...this when many more saws were in use commercially and/or as a necessary tool for a way of life that is largely gone.

there still isn’t a need, but yet some of the enthusiasts think there is, so be it! ; oversized top covers to the point where many think that look is normal. It was very ab-normal looking when it first started coming about.

:crazy2:

I think you could make a case that you can go longer between filter cleanings with the HD setup, but assuming both are clean, I don't think there's a performance advantage either way.

Not this guy. He is a gear head with auto repair shop at home. Late 40's, early 50's, owns a 68 Camaro and 72 Monte Carlo ss. Could be, but seems pretty straight laced to me.
