Gives it more stroke to pull more oil in before it forces it out to the bar pad. you can make the notch bigger where the oil actually flows.

I understand the control bolt modification but not the pump piston part. Any chance that you have a pic of a modded or where to grind the piston? You have mentioned grinding the shoulder 1/2 mm but not sure where you were referring.

I had a standard and HO pump piston in my hand and the same time but didnt look at them close enough to note the differences.

yea, pics of the mod would be great I still have an extra stock pump that I could easily order the HO parts and mod them.
might be interesting to mod the 661 pump as well.
