This saw is available on ebay new for as little as $299 AUD.

I realise that they are likely to be of questionable quality, and that is part of the reason i don't want to splash $300 on it, especially since I cannot find any spare parts yet.

I have one of the Chinese G621 clones, and it has served me well (only paid $150 AUD), but they are definitely cheaply made. I thought it was great when I got it as my first chainsaw, but now I have some equivalent pro saws, it is definitely not the first to be picked up for a job, however, it is a good, and so far reliable, back up. It may not hold up to everyday use, but they are fine for their purpose.

Edit: The spare parts problem is part of the reason i was wondering if anyone recognised the design, as parts may interchange, as with the Zenoah, Husky and Stihl clones. It would also be interesting to find an IPL. I might have to keep looking :reading:

Looking at some of the reviews online.

Interesting that most complaints are regarding the air filter design and access and being tuned far too rich from the factory. Not really quality issues IMO. If anyone has the links to the reviews about them being an absolute piece of junk/turd on ebay, I'd be interested to see them, as very few of the reviews I found gave that impression.

Also interesting is that this site is selling it at RRP ($699 AUD). http://www.crazysales.com.au/online-baumr-ag-24-92cc-sx92-chainsaw-101431.html

I'm starting to get the gist of this saw now. The fact that it is a reed valve engine explains the fuel tank on top, as the carburetor would feed straight into the crankcase, as with most reed valve engines. This means the carb has to be down low, where the fuel tank would normally be. This leads me to believe that this may be a copy of an older saw, i.e. 1970/80's vintage. Given that Baumr-Ag change the plastics slightly on all their saws, they may have copied the internals, and designed new plastics to fit over it, as these are not instrumental to the performance of the saw.

Trawling through Mike Acres site, some of the old Titans have a similar layout as far as the fuel tank and cylinder angled forward. This may explain some complaining of a lack of power, but these saws, if they were in fact a copy of a 70's vintage saw, are likely to be slow revving torque monsters. :surprised3:

These are really starting to intrigue me now. I may just have to buy one.

Well no idea about what is available, but there is s fellow presenting on youtube version II of the 80cc model in direkt comparison. And obviously the company is reacting to the airfilter complaints.
