I have a Stihl and Husqvarna, but I’ve always liked the horsepower and no anti-vibe handles of the Homelite Super XL. I’m somewhat of a novice at fixing them: I have 2 Super XL’s, and thought I should run my 2 problems past some guys who know more than I do about them.

The one super xl has excellent compression and spark, but gas shoots out of the muffler and obviously floods it and it will not start. When it does start idle screws have no impact on it, and it will race. I’m assuming a new carburetor would fix the problem, because I’ve used a kit on one carburator and then put a used one on it and it had no impact.

The other super xl runs/idles fine but will bog down after 5 minutes. It seems to be losing horsepower…..then some days it has the power to take on my Stihl.
Any suggustions would be a huge help,

Thanks in advance,

Uncle Mikey

Are there any other places to purchase new carburetors for Super XL’s other than on ebay?
