Went to cut down some trees at a friends house and he had this cut already, said I could have it. He did not know what kind of tree it was. It splits real nice, maybe because its been dead a while. It is the wood on top of the ash. Any thoughts?

where i live people burn sugar maple and birch all years long.
you need to control your air intake, type of wood doesnt matter.

Having a tough time telling the difference though the picture but if your in the north.. Its a Pin Cherry or Fire Cherry prunnus pensylvanica.... if your in the south... Its a Sour Cherry prunus cerasus. Its though to tell with out a geographical location & Id have to touch it. To be certain
