going to be dropping this maybe tomorrow. we were debating what kind it was without the leaves it was hard to tell.

it does have long seed pods on it. I tried to show them in one pic....

thanks, lone wolf!! we were debating whether it was catalpa or another species. we'll be dropping it tomorrow and most likely scrapping it then.
 
They get reallllly big around here. I know of a few that were planted along a fence row probably 60-70 years ago. Probably 40" diameter trunks.
 
Catalpa should have a light brown with little or no sap ring and super light tough fiber wood, Unique smell when you cut it. Delightful to craft with and hard to find not hollow.
When you get a catalpa cut into lumber and find the right customer you should be able to match or double Black Walnut prices. Try to harvest it for the novelty wood it is.
