I have bought a CSM and I am getig ready to try it out. I have a 044 that i use for firewood cutting. Is there anything i need to/should do before I start milling with it? I have a 32 in bar and ripping chain. It will be used in oak for a couple cuts and if I enjoy the milling i will be getting a bigger saw

Set up is the most important part(and a sharp chain). Measure, level, check again. Cut with consistent pressure and grip. It is not hard to cut curves with a chainsaw, which is why I like it. But if you want straight and level, double check everything, the vibration from the saw can change the guide rail and other adjustments, so watch for that as you cut.

i have an older oak log which i have yet to cut to firewood that i was going to practice on and see what happens. i will keep an eye open for changes in the settings
