I planted a 5 ft. Arapaho Crepe Myrtle last year, and this spring I saw no growth and cut it back to the ground. Now there are lots of shoots growing, so I cut them back and left only three to grow.

My question is can I make these three shoots to grow into a normal Arapaho Crepe Myrtle and not as a shrub? I plan to replant it close to the siding of the house where it is warmer in the winter. I live in zone 6

You might want to find out if this was a grafted cultivar. If so, these shoots will probably be from that graft and could be a different species. Contact the nursery where you purchased this; they should be able to tell you.
