Unless, of course, we end up paying welfare for him and his dependents if he is crippled or killed - the saw mill ain't gonna do that because he is an 'independent contractor'.
Unless, of course, the rest of us end up being subject to additional regulations or restrictions because of guys like him.
Unless, of course, he doesn't know what he is doing, but posts videos for others to see and cut like him; exposing/encouraging others.
Unless, of course, this is a forum for folks who are interested to discuss techniques, etc.
He had no control of that tree. Just because he has done it before, and video taped it, does not mean that he is a professional.

you know why someone is a formula 1 driver ?The chain grab with the saw running and the sharpening instructions sealed the deal for me. I don't know much about his felling techniques, but if they are on par with the chain grab and lame angle sharpening, he is on borrowed time.
I hope he doesn't hurt himself or anyone else, but looks like a formula one driver on ice!!!!!

sorry about your friend but tree loging is the second most dangerous job in the world ( statistics say this )Had a good friend who runs a logging crew loose his foot up to his heel because someone who worked for him cut a tree like that.he got completely around the tree sawing and the tree set back on the saw.my buddy couldnt tell if it was completely cut or had some holding in the center they hooked the cable on the skidder to it and just as soon as the guy who cut the tree in the first place tightened up on the cable it jumped off of the stump mashing my buddys foot into the ground and slid him back at least 10 feet digging a trench with his foot or what was left of it.he made it out ok but still goes through a lot of pain to this day
Jmho but cuting like that is like playing russian roulette.
Just more proof that Charles Darwin was wrong

In the woods there is no law of averages. Simply put, people don't survive logging by being stupid or not knowing what they're doing. That being said even smart logger is at risk. People who don't understand why he's cutting like this judging him is pretty silly. Like the way he does it or not you're not the saw mill writing his check. People reaming a guy who knows what he's doing rather than pointing out some of the hideous stumps that are posted in this forum. Makes a lot of sense.
